Eli had been home twenty minutes when Valentina arrived with an arm full of groceries.  He smiled as he helped her in and put the bag of food on the counter.  She told him that certain foods needed to be started now, so after a brief tutorial on his stove and oven, Eli tried to stay out of her way.  He took her overnight bag to his room, and returned without a rush.  Valentina didn’t keeping waiting too long, though.  After only about ten minutes of being in his home, she put her arms around his neck and kisses him hello.

“So I talked to my father,” Valentina lead with the topic.  She could see Eli was still a bit nervous, so why not give him the good news right away? “He said he’d do an interview with you.  I can set it up if you want.”

His face lit up in a smile. “Oh, thank you Valentina.  Interviewing Colonel Lytton will really add some depth to my research.  Thank you so much.  I hope I didn’t put you in an awkward spot asking him.”

“Not at all, Eli.  If anything, I’m sorry you can only interview him in words.” Valentina wore a knowing smirk on her face.

“What more did he tell you this time?”  Eli read her well, without having to delve any deeper into her mind.  He didn’t like to do that kind of thing, even if this host trusted him and was pliable.

“Tracker was a captain in the military.  And he had a helicopter.” Valentina put out in a very matter-of-fact tone.  “But which military, he didn’t say.  I thought about it while packing, and there were only four real possibilities: UK, USA, Switzerland or Russia.  And the United States is eliminated right off, since Tracker said in my dream that he’d never been there.  And I don’t think it was Switzerland because that was my mother’s side of the family, and we haven’t found any proof yet that he spent any extended time there.”

“It’s not the UK.” Eli supplied.  “I’d have found something by now if it was.  It must be Russia, but let’s not set it in stone yet.  Not until after we talk to Abraham Horowitz.”

“Did you find him?!”  Valentina excitedly grabbed Eli’s shoulders, her brown eyes wide.

“Almost, I think I’ll have him by the end of the week.  It turns out his mother died and it was ruled a homicide, but just one of those senseless gang violence things.  A man was caught, proven guilt and brought to justice, but Abe thought it was a premeditated murder.  He also thought the gunman was hired by something bigger. So when his mother’s case was deemed close, Abe startled shaking things up at local police precincts.  This was an issue, because he was SIS.  He could, and would make things difficult for other people on a fairly regular basis if he thought they had been holding back on him, or had covered something up.  Eventually, his superior, Director Richard Fairchild had to force him on leave.  Instead Horowitz resigned and moved from his farm outside of London, and to Grimsby, where his mother had been raised.  A little later, he moves from Grimsby to an estate called Fairgarden.”  Eli told her, making no secret that he liked to see her that excited.  This was making the M.S.-Tracker link all over again.

“So you just have to find out where Fairgarden is and hope Horowitz is still there?” Valentina asked watching Eli’s eyes.  He was processing something in his mind.  He was putting something together.

“Yes, pretty much… Valentina, we’ve been forgetting something.  We know part of Tracker’s name.  All my books have his initials on them.  We are looking for Captain M. “Tracker” S.” He announced.  It was no “I found Horowitz” moment, either of his moments regarding Abraham Horowitz, but it was a detail they’d been ignoring in favor of the ease of calling him Tracker.
