Eli couldn’t help but smile as he watched Valentina set up the hurricane in her room.  He still felt awkward in her room, not sure what he should be doing, or where he should be.  Valentina lit a candle inside the hurricane, and then turned off the lights.  The flame danced, throwing constellations over her walls, furniture and their faces.  Her eyes went wide as she looked around, taking in the room.

“Oh, Eli! Wow! Eli, it’s so beautiful!” Valentina chirped before crawling into her bed.

“I’m glad you like it.” He said into her mind, reluctantly sitting on her bed.  He pulled his bag into his lap and removed his newest journal, and the documents he had recovered from Utkin’s computer.

“How many do you think there are?” Valentina said as she crawled up beside him.  She playfully perched on his arm to look over his shoulder.  With her so close, he could almost see her scar through her make-up.  Part of him wanted to wipe the layers of make-up away.  That same part wanted to kiss her lips, her neck, her collar bone and much more of her.  Eli watched Valentina’s lips move as she silently read the report from Utkin’s computer.  Eli didn’t need to read with her.  He’d already read each three or four times, and Valentina occupied the entirety of his attention anyway.

“This is amazing, Eli,” speaking his name broke Eli from his spell. “We have the name of some one that might know Tracker.  We have a starting point.” Valentina hugged Eli, wrapping her arms around him and pressing herself to his back.  He was slender, but all Valentina felt was firm toned muscles.  Up so close, the scent of chlorine in his hair was stronger and unmistakable.

“Yes,” Eli replied after a moment. “I found this about Abraham Horowitz as well.  This is the journal I found.  Like I said before, I’m pretty sure it’s one of Tracker’s.  It’s in remarkable condition.”  Eli offered Valentina the journal.  She paged through it a moment before handing it back to him.

“It was so much easier to just read the book aloud, and record myself reading it.” Valentina explained as she crawled away.  Eli caught himself staring as Valentina leaned off the bed to reach for her laptop.  While she might not have done it intentionally, Valentina was giving Eli quite the view of her butt through her leggings.  She righted herself on the bed, and then set up her lap top.  If she noticed the flush across Eli’s cheeks, she didn’t mention it, but the room was dim from the candlelight.  Valentina opened a dictation program, and took the book from Eli again.

“Valentina,” He spoke into her mind, “Please don’t think I came here just for you to translate.”  Eli was surprised by his need to explain himself.

“Don’t be ridiculous, Eli.  I invited you here,” She gave him a warm smile that scattered his thoughts.  Though he tried to focus, Valentina was igniting something inside of him.  When she met his gaze, his heart raced.  When she touched his arm, his skin tingled.  When she spoke, his mind went blank of anything that wasn’t Valentina Lytton.  Eli cursed Levi for being right all those weeks ago.

“Are you ready to get started?  Can I get you anything to drink?” She asked, nearly forgetting her manners.

“I could really use a lager right about now,” he thought, not realizing he had shared his thoughts with Valentina.

“I’ll see what we have.” She didn’t seem offended by the request.  Actually, she seemed happy.  Valentina left him with her laptop as she slipped away to the kitchen.
