I woke up feeling my arms sore from last night's work on the slogan, banners, and everything. I opened my eyes and searched for the clock, it's four a.m. I'm not going to run late today.
I sat upright with a good smile. I am almost done with my campaign materials thanks to Luke but I will be talking with Andrew for him to help me for my ad. I slide into my slippers as I stretched my arms. I looked down almost half surprised to see Lucius, curled in a fetal position, lying on the cold floor. I clearly remember we thanked each other before he leaves the room last night, why is he here?
I tapped his shoulders gently trying to wake up. He let out a soft moan and turned around. He seem to like lying on cold floors, will his body not hurt? Concerned, I tapped his shoulder once again. He looks so innocent when he has his eyes closed, like a baby angel that slept peacefully on the clouds. I let out a small smile as I gently run a finger on his cheeks, who wouldn't like the kind of angel he is? I grabbed a pillow from my bed and lifted his head up gently, placing the pillow underneath then I covered him with a warm blanket.
I went to the bathroom to take a shower. It's four in the morning and if it wasn't for the water heater I will be shivering in the cold. After I was done, I grabbed my toothbrush and brushed my teeth then I put on my undergarments and lastly, my uniform.
I went out of the bathroom with damp hair, trying to squeeze it dry with the towel. Luke was still sleeping on the floor. Was I too tired last night that I didn't know he came in? I suddenly shook my head in panic when I remember my mom told me why she doesn't like sleeping with me because I do weird sleeping positions and move a lot. Why would I be too embarrassed anyway? Nobody sleeps and wakes up like Sleeping Beauty in real life.
I looked closely at the mirror and squeezed some of my pink lip tint on my ring finger then I spread it across my lips until they look lively and full. I brushed my long hair and put a little bit of baby oil on them to make them soft and shiny.
"What kind of shower gel do you use? You smell very nice" Luke says with a sleepy voice. I must say it sounded very tempting. I turned around and he's looking at me, his blue-gray crystals dilated as I stared back and we both looked away awkwardly.
I breathed deeply as I walked to my desk to keep everything inside my backpack before I leave for school. Luke went inside the bathroom and he came out with a wet face.
"Can I borrow your towel?" he asked. I nodded and he grabbed the towel by the mirror, the one I just used on my hair, and wiped it on his face. "Why do you love oranges? Why not strawberry or chocolate?" he asked and I let out a smile because there's no way he'd know my shower gel has orange scent if he didn't check them.
"Why not?" I said. He just smiled as he combed his hair back with my brush.
"I never got into a real school" he started, "When I look at you in your uniform, I wonder what it's like" he added. I felt completely wretched with what he said. How can he not go into a real school? What does he mean by saying that?
"I don't understand..." I uttered, "What do you mean?" I asked.
Lucius sighed as he placed my brush on the side table, "Let's just say I can't be like any normal child or teenager because I am Lucius Haile" he said and his mood changed and dimmed.
I balled my fist as I tried to think about what to say, I couldn't place myself on his shoe because I don't know the whole story. All I could do is feel sorry but I don't think Lucius needed my pity more than anything else. "You are normal" I said. Funny, I used to agree to myself he isn't normal.
I walked towards him and held his hand, they were so warm that they sent chills down to my bones. "I don't understand what you are going through" I began, "But just because you are Lucius Haile, doesn't mean you can't be normal" I declared. Luke smiled at me and suddenly he bit his lips making me want to kiss them, to devour them and feel them all over mine. But no, how can I think something so dirty like that? That is so not Helena Parker-Gray!
