Chapter 9

I opened my eyes and looked around. I was still sitting in the car and it was dark out. I must had dozed off. I opened the door before getting out and softly slamming it behind me. I checked the time, 12:17. Whatever, I thought to myself. I did not want to see people so I walked to the place I took the most comfort in, the barn.

Maddie knickered a greeting to me from her pasture. 'Oh good, Kylie and Megan must have done evening chores' I thought to myself.

Wrong! They only took care of the horses. The stalls were not cleaned and the barn floor was unswept. I sighed and grabbed a wheelbarrow and a pitchfork.

As I cleaned out I thought about everything, from my horses to the shooting to Niall to Kristen and her baby to little Alyse. I loved Ava and Maddie they were my babies. I could not wait to ride them again tomorrow. Ava would need to rebuild some of her muscle that she had lost while she was on break. Same with Maddie, but it would not be too difficult.

I also thought about Dylan. All of my memories of him and all the adventures we had together. Everything from the first day I met him to that awful morning only about a month ago.

I finished up stalls, filled water buckets, and swept the barn floor. I went and sat on the hay to finish thinking. Eventually I sleep came over me.

I opened my eyes to see a bright light. It was the sun peering over the horizon and shining in through the barn door. I pulled my phone ot of my back pocket to check the time 6:37. Megan, Kylie, and the boys would certainly not be awake yet and neither would Alyse. I pulled hoses in and fed them breakfast.

After they finished, I threw Roxanne and Maddie 2 flakes of hay each and pulled Ava out of her stall. I tacked her up and put draw reins and a martingale on. I had an extra pair of jeans in the tack room and pulled them on. I walked Ava into the indoor arena and set up some jumps about 2'6". I tighted her girth and hopped on.

I warmed her up at a trot for a few minutes and pushed her into canter. I used the draw reins to keep her head down in a nice hunter frame. We worked on lead changes, circles, poles, and keeping in a hunter frame.

When she was finally warmed up enough, I collected her into a nice powerful canter and pointed her to a fence. We took off at the correct spot and flew gracefully over the fence. We jumped a couple more before I called it a day and walked her around on a loose rein.

After she was cooled off I put her back in her stall and pulled out Maddie. I tacked her up and went into the outdoor ring. I warmed her up, set up the timers, and ran the pattern a few times. The times were okay, but nothing like the times we were running before my little 'mishap'. I cooled her off and settled her back in her stall, before walking up to the house for breakfast.

I past my brothers and dad walking through the front door. My guess was that they were heading down the feed the horses. Dav randomly decided to pick me up and throw me over his shoulder with a smirk on his face. He ran down to our little lake a bit behind the house.

"NO! Don't you dare David Shawn Lynn!" I screamed eyes wide while pounding on his back and using his full name. He just laughed and lowered me a hair length over the water. I screamed again. My dad and Brad just watched smiling. "Dad! Brad! Save me!" I screamed nervously. They just laughed at me and Dav smirked at me evilly.

"Their not gunna help you sis" he he said in a low creepy voice. He raised me above the water and laughed evilly.

"3, 2, 1" Splash! On the count of 1 he let me go into the water. In that moment I grabbed onto his shirt though and pulled him into the water with me. We both resurfaced, looked at each other, and laughed. Dav grabbed my hand pulled us out of the pond, still laughing.

"Great now I have to go change! Ugh" I sighed pouting.

"Awh poor thing" Brad teased me in a baby voice while pinching my cheeks. I stuck my tongue out at him and held out my arm to Dav. He linked arms with me and we skipped back to my house. He saluted me jokingly and marched back to the main house.

I giggled and shut the door behind me as I walked into the house. I went into my room to shower and change from my wet clothes. About 10 minutes later I walked back to the main house for breakfast.
