Camilla POV

“You’re joking!” Daniel practically screamed after spitting out his mouthful of nonfat vanilla latte onto my shirt.

I think he came in second to Beth for most excited about this whole being part of the Tomlinson family thing.

Wiping my shirt clean with some napkins, I shook my head. “Wish I was.”

“Wow,” he continued, still in a daze at the news. “So Louis will be like your step brother.”

I nodded, unable to keep a smile off my face at how much of a fan boy Daniel was. “Yeah, apparently Mark has four daughters of his own. It’s weird how I’ve never met him. My dad never said anything.”

Daniel gave me a guilty, sideways glance. “Sorry for being so excited about this. I know it’s gotta be hard. I’m here for you, you know.”

I couldn’t bear to look at my best friend’s soft gaze. I couldn’t even begin to process the fact that my dad was…

Instead I looked around at the people milling around. Even though spring quarter had ended nearly a month ago, there were still plenty of people sunbathing and socializing around the beautiful UCLA campus.

“Beth has not stopped talking about Larry or Neil or whatever,” I commented offhandedly.

Daniel got the message that I wanted to avoid talking about my dad. “Cam, you’re going to need to know their names if you’re going to be Louis’ new step sister.”

I rolled my eyes with a smile. “I haven’t even met them yet. And it’s not like I asked to be Louis’ new step sister or whatever.”

“Okay,” Daniel said with a snarky tone, “then you’re going to need to know their names if you’re going to be normal teenage girl in this day and age.” He turned to face me. “Now repeat after me.”

I heaved a massive sigh but agreed, defeated.

“Loooouiiiiiis,” he said, pronouncing and emphasizing every letter (except the silent S).

“Louuiiis,” I repeated with a sarcastic look.

“Liiiiiaaaaaammm.”

“Liiiaaam.”

“Zaaaayyyyyynnn.”

“Zay-- How do you even spell that?” I asked incredulously.

“Z-A-Y-N,” Daniel answered without skipping a beat. Guess he was a bigger fan than I had previously thought. “Haaaarrrryyyyyy.”

“Harry.”

“Niiiiiaaaalllll.”

“What the hell kind of name is that?” I butt in again.

“I don’t know,” he said. “But he’s Irish. And blonde. And cute. And so perfect!”

I simply blinked at my best friend with my brows scrunched and my mouth ajar. I cleared my throat. “Dan, your gay is showing.”

He rolled his eyes and pretended to toss his hair, perhaps the gayest thing I had ever seen him do since he had never been a particularly feminine gay.

“Whatever. I bet you can’t not love them the minute you meet them,” he challenged.

“Really?” I scoffed. “Come on, you know me. I’m not gonna fall head over heels for some boy band just because I meet them.”

“Uh, no. They are not just some boy band. And that doesn’t change anything. Each and every one of them is just so perfect and beautiful in their own way. Zayn seems like he’d be your type. There’s no way you’re not going to be overpowered by their charms. Just no way. You may be practically asexual –“
