*Camilla POV*

It was after the three-plus hour car ride when I became very aware that I was alone with the guys.

At least in the car, I could space out and not even be aware of my surroundings. Occasionally, there would be the awkward eye contact with Niall, small talk with Louis and Liam, and a shared smile with Zayn. Harry slept the entire time.

When we had reached London, it was too early for their meeting with their tour managers and design crew regarding the disaster that had struck in their lighting department. Instead, the boys took me to explore the city.

“You guys really don’t have to,” I told them, guilty that they were spending their very precious time with me tagging along. “You probably have better things to do.”

I had wanted to stay behind with Mr. Tomlinson and perhaps meet them later, but everyone would have none of that. Mark was clearly opposed to spending any alone time with me, which I found odd since he was my new godfather and all. But I had obliged when the boys – especially Zayn, Harry, and Niall – oddly seemed to really want to me to spend time in London with them.

Well, Liam had mused over the idea of Harry and Niall “taking a liking to me” during our late night talk. But I highly doubted it. Who was I to them? Just some random girl from California that appeared out of nowhere as Louis’s god-sister.

“You’re not troubling us at all, Camilla. Don’t worry,” Liam reassured me.

I was starting to like Liam a lot. He reminded me of a puppy (in the best way possible, with his thick, wavy hair and expressive brown eyes), and something about his sensible and thoughtful demeanor had made me open up to him like no one else in my life. Plus, he wouldn’t leave my side all day.

“Trust us,” Zayn added with a mischievous bat of his ridiculously pretty eyes. “Hanging out with you is a lot more fun than a meeting about lights.”

I smiled stupidly, mostly because Zayn was just so goddamn beautiful. But also because even though hanging out with them was awesome, designing stage lighting was so fun!

Okay, I’m weird.

“So what do you say we get some lunch?” Louis suggested with an enthusiastic grin, swinging an arm over my shoulders. “My treat, for my new god-sister.”

I couldn’t help but return the warm squeeze Louis exerted on my shoulders as a sort of affection with a hug. “Thanks, Louis.”

The walk from the boys’ flats (where Paul had dropped us off) to the little waterside café wasn’t far at all. But the trip seemed longer simply because it was more eventful, with strangers recognizing the boys and stopping them to take a picture occasionally. The street was busy, but I was surprised that the five boys could get anywhere at all without an entire troop of bodyguards surrounding them.

“Do your fans ever attack you?” I asked to no one in particular, hoping that one of them would respond.

“Only occasionally,” Liam answered with an undeterred smile.

He seemed to love the fans no matter what crazy things they’ve done, and that just made me become more in awe of the saint that Liam seemed to be.

“Some of the crazier ones camped outside Harry’s house,” Zayn added with an amused raise of his dark, shapely eyebrows.

Niall laughed like a madman and punched Harry affectionately in the shoulder.

Harry didn’t seem as amused. “Right, and once I did leave to go to America, I got clawed in the back by some crazy girl!”
