"Every moment is a fresh beginning -T. S Eliot- "
I haul my bags down. Geez what was I thinking packing all my clothes? I should have left some behind. I drag my wheel bag behind me and carry two other bags in my hand huffing and puffing. My mind is so concentrated on finding the exit that the next thing I know, I collide into something hard and stumble backwards gripping my bag for support. "What the hell..." my words are cut short when I look up and see the most beautifullest, if that's even a word, man in my life. His piercing green eyes staring back at me furiously. I also notice six other big guys behind him. What's this? Protect the leader? Pppffff." Watch where you're going. " he says rudely as him and his men walk past me while giving me deadly stares. What the hell? "Jerk!" I call out although I don't think he heard me. My eyes follow his tall, muscular back and they move down. Damn he sure has an ass. I laugh at myself for even thinking such a thing and get back to finding the exit. "Excuse me, could you please direct me to the exit? " I ask a stranger and he points in the direction that I'm walking in. "Thanks." I mutter.
I finally get outside. The cool air of England hitting me. I guess I could get used to this. My eyes drift to a tall, also muscular guy with red hair. I squint my eyes and realise it's my best friend, Slade who's picking me up. "Slade?" I question somewhat confused. The last time I saw him he didn't look... Attractive? His eyes land on me and slightly widen. So I'm not the only one who's changed. "Sky?" he walks up to me. "Geez , what the hell happened to you. You've grown. You're making me actually want to date my best friend." he tells me with his dimpled smile. Gosh I've missed that. "I'd say the same for you accept without the last part. Come here you." I reply pulling him into a hug. Sure Slade's attractive with his new red hair, almost black eyes and a body that I would never have imagined him in but he's still like my big brother. Well only by 3 years. We practically grew up together, took baths together until he turned 18 and moved out here. We finally pull apart. "Is that a tear I see?" he teasingly says. "Please, don't get your boxers in a twist." I tell him. "Ahhhh, the fiery Sky hasn't died yet. C'mon, let's get your bags in so we can get moving. " he tells me ushering me to a silver Maserati. My mouth hangs open, "This is yours? What the hell did you do to get it? Kill some billionaire?" he just laughs. "Something like that."
Once all my bags are in , he opens my door for me, being the gentleman that he isn't. What the hell happened to the old Slade? "You hungry sunshine?" Ahhhh there he is. The old Slade always called me 'his sunshine'. Apparently I was his sunshine in his dull skies. "You know me." I reply with a goofy smile. He let's out a laugh while gazing at me intently. "God, I've missed you sunshine ." "Me too, Slade. Me too. "
Lucas:
As I walk into my private jet, I can't stop thinking about that fiery beauty that bumbed into me earlier. There was something about her that scared the shit outta me and being the most feared man of an even fearful gang, I'm fearless of shit. Well not anymore my brain tells me. One thing is for sure. I need to find out who she is and then I have a plan for her.
I pick up my phone and call my best friend and second in command man, Slade. "What's up man." he answers on the first ring, it sounds like he's driving. "Listen. I have a job for you to do. I bumbed into this girl today and I need you to find out everything you can on her." Sure thing but I'll have to do it later. I'm taking my best friend out for lunch. Remember I told you she's coming? Anyways, what's up with this other girl, we have plenty of" others" in our clubs already." he tells me and I can't help but want to defend that fiery beauty I met because by others, he actually means strippers. Probably doesn't want to scare his friend. " No nothing like that idiot. I have something better in mind that will make our gang more powerful. " I tell him and he just chuckles on the other end knowing what I mean.
Skylar:
We arrive at a vintage looking restaurant that smells like all sorts of food and makes my mouth water even more. A pretty looking waiter who can't seem to keep her eyes off of Slade seats us at a table and leaves. Slade doesn't even read his menu and I assume that he comes here often. "So.. How was your flight?" he asks breaking the silence. Luckily I've already decided what I'm having. "It was pretty chill until this guy nearly pushed me over and the worst part is he was so rude about it. Geez, I wanted to punch is face." Slade just chuckles. "I'm sorry that was a really terrible welcoming. Did you get hurt?" he asks generally concerned. "Nah, nothing I couldn't handle but I swear if I ever see him again I will beat the living daylights outta him." I reply, irritated with the fact that someone as rude as him could be so panty dropping. "Well, you have my full permission if you ever see him again. How are you coping since.... Mom's death?" he questions and just those few words send my heart racing and all the hidden memories came bubbling back. "I don't want to talk about it and no I didn't ever find him.I'm still searching for that bastard" I reply sternly. I'm many things like a fighter, a bold strong courageous woman who can kick ass but even though it took a lot of practice to get where I am I've never learnt how to cope with the memories of what happened that night nor how to not breakdown at the mention of mom but what I did learn was how to build up walls to prevent people from getting in because I don't need their pity. Slade looks taken aback but just leaves it at that. "I'm sorry I had to leave so soon.. but on a less tense note. What are your plans while you're here?" he questions. Well for starters I'm definitely not getting some boring office job to earn money. Sure I know Slade will take care of me but my independence has brought me this far so my plan is to put my fighting skills to good use and look for some illegal underground fight matches when I get home. There you'll earn more money in a day than you'll earn in a month. "Oh nothing, I might look around for some office jobs, you know." I reply as casually as I can.
After our tasty meal, Slade drives us home and I'm impressed to see where he stays. He actually has his own house and it's massive. Now I'm really curious as to what he does. Does he also do illegal fights? Back home we used to go to them when everyone was asleep and he used to take part because back then I couldn't even fight to save my life and Slade didn't want "his sunshine" getting hurt. If he only knows what his sunshine has been up to. That's until mum died and I went to Japan to learn a whole bunch of fighting skills from MMA to Karate to kickboxing, you name it but obviously Slade doesn't know that. He thinks I've been in America ever since mom's death when I've actually been in Japan all along learning from Kirasu Sensei. I was sad to leave because everyone there was family to me and I had to leave them behind. "Pretty impressive." I say when we get inside. Everything is so modern and sleek. "I'll show you to your room so you can get a good night's rest. You must be tired." Slade says as he leads me up some fancy looking stairs. He leads me to a massive looking bedroom that's probably bigger than anything I've ever stayed in but my time in Japan taught me to not be impressed by the material things of life." Sure thanks for everything, I'll see you in the morning. Night Slade." I kiss him on the cheek before he leaves. Little does he know that I won't be doing any sleeping tonight. This baby's got some illegal fighting to do.
