I am currently dress shopping for the party with Max and I am honestly dying to just find something right already. Max really wants to help me find something that Jack will love and we are still yet to find something worthy.
We walk into Forever 21 and go to look at the cocktail dresses at the back which look absolutely gorgeous. I see a royal blue velvet dress and go to try it on while Max waits outside the dressing room pestering me to hurry up.
It fits me nicely and sits about three inches above my knee with a plunging neckline at the top, satisfied with how it looks I walk out to show Max. As I open the curtain I come face to face with a bright red cocktail dress that Max is holding out with a proud look on her face.
"I found it Muffin!" Max exclaims shoving the dress into my arms and pushing me back towards the changing room. "And give me that blue dress when you're done, I wanna try it on." I laugh friend and go to put the red dress on.
Max's POV:
Alex steps out of the dressing room wearing the red dress and I am blown away. She looks gorgeous and I know this dress is the one, Jack is going to love it.
The dress is spaghetti strap with a low neck line and the bottom of the dress sits about 7 inches from her knees with a longer piece of material overlapping it on the right leg.
"Teves absolutamente hermosa nena." I say smiling at this beautiful girl in front of me. (You look absolutely beautiful, babe.)
"¿Estásseguro? ¿No es demasiado?" She asks looking at herself in the mirror again. (Are you sure? Is it not too much?)
"Enabsoluto, a Jack le encantará." I say trying to convince her. (Not at all, Jack will love it.)
"Loconseguiré." She says nodding and walking back into the changing room. (I'll get it.)
"Damn right you're going to get it," I say clicking my fingers.
"I can't believe you're already turning 17," Alex says from inside the changing room as I try on the Royal blue dress in the changing room next to her.
"And you're almost 18. I say back. I'm so happy to celebrate yet another birthday party together."
"Same here, Babygirl." She says and I can hear that she is smiling
Alex's POV:
Max and I are currently adding the finishing touches to our hair and makeup up in her bedroom. All of the guests have already arrived and Max insisted that nobody was allowed to see me today because while we were at the mall I decided to dye my hair blonde and she wants it to be a surprise for Jack.
It's been absolutely excruciating not being able to see anyone today but at least I had Max with me the whole time.
I finish with my mascara checking in the mirror, satisfied with how I look. I wish Anna was here right now, I miss her so much. She did nothing wrong, why couldn't it have been me instead. A single tear slips down my cheek and I'm instantly grateful that I'm wearing waterproof mascara.
"Why are you crying, Muffin?" Max asks walking up behind me and wrapping me up in a hug.
"I miss her, Babygirl," I say leaning my head on top of hers that is sitting on my shoulder.
"I know, I'm sure she is looking down at you right now with the biggest smile on her face." She soothes me
"It's her birthday, my precious baby sister is turning 10 and I can't even get excited that she is going into double digits with her."
"Let's be happy today, you have Jack waiting for you outside and he is going to look at you with pure joy and love." I smile and nod my head knowing it's true.
"Hope he likes blondes," I say walking towards the door.
"I don't think it matters, just as long as he has you," Max says hooking our arms together and walking out the door with me.
We start walking down the stairs and everyone turns to look at us cheering and clapping except for Ashton and Jack. The two boys are standing at the bottom of the stairs looking at us with their mouths agape. The way that Jack is looking at me makes me smile instantly and forget about everyone and thing else at that moment.
We get to the bottom of the stairs and I give Max a kiss on the cheek before walking to Jack and her to Ashton.
"Hmm, blonde?" Jack says smirking
"You bet." I wink at him
"Happy birthday, Princess," Jack says as he slips his hands around my waist and kisses me on the temple. "You look stunning."
"Thank you, Jack." I bow my head a goofy grin on my face. The song Hung up on you by Tate McRae starts playing and I smile even bigger because it is one of my favorite songs.
"May I have this dance?" Jack asks tucking a piece of stray hear behind my ear and I nod in response.
Jack leads me to the makeshift dance floor placing his one hand on my lower back and holding my other hand up, I place my other hand on his shoulder and lean against him for guidance.
"Jack," I say quietly
"Yes, Princess?"
"I can't dance."
"Stand on my feet." I chuckle and step onto his feet as he moves around gracefully. All the other dancers seem to disappear as I focus on only Jack. Will he still want to be with me after he finds out about Anna? Will he also blame me? I shake my head wanting to clear all the bad thought from my mind.
"What is it?" Jack asks noticing me being tense.
"Jack, I can't do this," I say stepping off his feet and backing up a little bit.
"Can't do what?" He asks looking confused.
A tear slips down my cheek and I turn on my heel walking towards the door and to the beach that is just down the road. I get to the sand kicking my high heels off and walking towards the water with Jack behind me, Anna and I used to come here all the time.
I keep walking not caring that my dress is getting slightly wet.
"Princess?" Jack asks as he approaches me in the water.
"I'm sorry, Jack," I say bowing my head.
"Baby, what are you sorry for?" he asks placing a hand on my jaw.
"It's her birthday."
"Anna?" I nod in response. "Do you want to tell me what happened?"
