Two hours has passed before I feel someone messing with my hands. My eyes flutter open and notice that the boy has huddled up against me, with my arm wrapped around his shoulders.
He is trying to make shapes with my fingers and I smile down at him. He may looks four or five, but he has the mind of a shy one year old.
"Angel! Where are you jitterbug?" It's my dad. I look at the boy with a smile and nod. "Dad! We're down here!" I turn phone light on and start to wave it around when I see ropes fall from the hole. I see my dad, our neighbor, and a few others. I shut my light off and go to stand but the boy grips my hand tightly. I kneel beside him with a small smile. "It's ok. Their here to help like me. They won't hurt you. My dad and I will make sure of that." He has a worry look on his face and I know that I didn't convenience him. My dad walks over with everyone and the boy hugs me around my waist.
I put my hand up and my dad stops with a worry look in his eyes. I turn back to the boy and give him a small hug. "If it makes you feel any better, I will stay by your side until the end. Okay?" I whisper in his ear. He nods and I give my dad the okay to move. I explained the situation to my neighbor while they get the boy ready to move.
~~~fast forward to the hospital~~~
Now I'm sitting in an emergency room with someone I just meet. The doctor says he will be just fine and that he was lucky I found him when I did.
"Mmmh." I look up at the boy as his eyes open slowly. He tries to get up, but I place a hand on his shoulder and gentle push him back down. "You can't sit up just yet. Is there anyone you want me to call, friends or family?" He nods and spells out Jayden Abbott with his hands. "Do you know where your phone is?" He taps my side then my jeans near my back pocket. I walk over to his cloths and pull his phone out.
I sit down in my chair and run a cord from my phone to his. He raises an eyebrow at me. "Your phone is beyond repair right now so I'm going through your phone from mine. Now can you tell me your name?" He spells out Richard Morris. I nod and call the number.
"I'm not interested in whatever it is your selling bye." "Hold on. I'm not selling anything." I say before he hangs up, and he tells me he's listening. "Is this Mr. Jayden Abbott?" "Yes now who the hell are you?" "Hi, my name is Angelus. Your friend Richard is in the hospital and he asked me to call. He is alright, the doctor says he will be just fine, but I won't tell you the details over the phone." "We'll be right there." We say our goodbyes and I tell them to be careful. Right before we hang up I hear gun shots. "What the hell is going on there?" He asks with worry in his voice. "I'm sorry. I have to go." I hang up before he can respond and grab the gun my dad gave me when I got here. Someone is trying to kill Richard.
