"Okay class that's the end of it." Mr. Massicot barely muttered out before the entire Literature class got out of their seats and head out the door. The class hated discussing stories like Shakespeare which they have been doing since High School and were very much intrigued to discuss the novel "12 years a slave." but they would have to wait an entire two weeks before that part of the syllabus comes up. At this point in time many of the students wonder what led them to do Literature as a college minor in the first place. Amoung them is 17 year old Keiara Lawrence who is a book worm by nature but a very exquisite social butterfly in college standards that is. She enjoys just being a Caribbean Island girl, having fun but still striving to achieve her hopes and dreams.
"Keiara I would like to speak with you." said the lecturer as the group of students head out the door. Keiara rolls her eyes. What does he want now? Her friend taps her on the back. 'Good luck.' They all know that Mr. Massicot is a talker and he could go on for hours about God knows what. He is a handsome enough middle aged man, with a bald head and mono tone voice. He never ceases to talk about his wife and daughter when he gets a chance. Keiara hopes that is not the reason he called her to invite her over to dinner since she already made plans for later today. Keiara slowly walks over to Mr. Massicot.
"How have you been?'' He asks.
"Fine." she replied and looks in the direction of the door and notices her friends have left.
"We haven't seen you pass by the house lately. "
"Well I have been busy with school and balancing all those extra curricular activities that I do so I have not been able to pass by."
Mr Massicot fixes his round rim glasses and pushes it up on the bridge of his snub nose. "My wife asked me to inform you that she misses your company and you should pass by sometime."
"Okay I will try. See you Sir." and Keiara walks out the classroom in the direction of her friends hang out spot. It annoyed her that her mother's best friend who is also her godmother husband had to be her college teacher. She sometimes wondered if he spied on her for her parents too. Keiara bumps into something hard and drops her books that she was trying to place into her bag. She drops onto the floor and picks up the books saying sorry as she does it.
"It's okay." replies the voice. "Next time watch where you are going." Keiara looks up to see a handsome brown skin man dressed in a long sleeve shirt and tie. As Keiara stands up he hands her the Literature book.
"They still teach this?' he asks observing the cover.
"Apparently." replies Keiara. "He is the greatest playwright of all time well after Tyler Perry that is."
He chuckles a little "I'm Mr. Watt by the way."
"Okay Mr. Watt. Sorry for bumping into you." Keiara stares as she watches this guy walk down the corridor, his hands behind his back. He looks too old to be a student yet not as old as most of the lecturers here. He must be new thought Keiara. He had a nice smile and a cute face.
"Keke." someone shouts out annoyingly.
"Yes. girl" replies Keiara back knowing that it could only be her best friend loud mouth Keisha who would call her out in a crowded corridor like this. The K's they liked to call themselves. Keisha runs up to meet her.
"Must you call me this loud?" asks Keiara.
"How else would you have heard me when I caught you stareing at my new math teacher?"
"You know him?''
"Yeah he is hot right? He started today. Got most of the girls drooling already."
"Yeah he fine." admitted Keiara "but not as fine as my baby Jeremy."
"Whatever girl." Keisha grabs Keiara's arm. "You don't think anyone is as hot as that Jeremy of yours."
True nods Keiara in agreement. She and Jeremy were High school sweethearts. He has been her first and only lover. Her parents adore Jeremy and he is the volleyball star at the school. Probably that adoration would dwindle if they know what she and Jeremy do every other night. Every girl at school has eyes for Jeremy. Many of them think that she is the luckiest girl on the planet to have a guy like that. Tall, dark, muscular and handsome are the top four words to describe his appearance.
As Keiara and Keisha walk down the corridor towards their spot, Keisha notices that mostly everyone calls Keiara.
"Keke it seems like you know everybody." points out Keisha.
"Girl I don't know half of those people."
"Hmmm. When your dad is the president of the college and you are dating the hottest guy in school, what you expect?"
Keiara and Keisha join the crew before Keiara had time to respond. Keisha knows that she has worked so hard to have her own identity and it bugs her when people identify her as the college president's daughter. Just one more year of this school and she is off to study journalism and sociology.
"Hi baby." says Jeremy kissing her on the cheek and giving her a warm embrace.
"Hi. How was class?" she responds smiling from ear to ear.
"Boring. And you don't have to tell me. Mr. Massicot bored you guys to death. They already told me." he said nodding at the other friends of theirs who were in Literature class.
"yeah." simply replied Keiara not wanting to discuss Mr. Massicot since he is a friend of the family. Her parents would loath at that.
The other friends engaged themselves in conversation. Jeremy pulls Keiara aside. "So baby. After my practice are you coming over?''
Keiara pretends to think about it for a second just to make Jeremy squirm. "maybe." she smiles teasingly.
"What do you mean maybe? You haven't been over in like two weeks and I miss our alone time." he seems annoyed and desperate.
"We have both been busy baby. Plus I thought tonight we made plans to go to the beach party at Mero. I already asked my parents and they consented."
Jeremy scratches his head. "Oh yeah."
Kegan yells out at them "Guys are you two love birds going to the beach party?"
Keiara and Jeremy stare at each other. "Yeah we sure are." he puts his arm around Keiara who gives a smile. "You owe me a billion." he whispers in her ears. Keiara smiling knowing exactly what he meant.
