It's now 5:15 and Keiara is in the parking lot waiting for her dad but his vehicle isn't there. All her friends have already left and she can't call Jeremy since he is in practise. She gets a call from her dad.

"Daddy where are you. I have been waiting for you."

"Sorry sweetheart. I got an important meeting tonight and had to leave so your mum and I won't be home until late tonight. Just call Jeremy to pick you up." And with that he hung up.

"Great." Keiara says. "Just great." she makes her way to the school bus stop to get a ride. It is now 5:30 and not a bus in sight. She made the conscious decision to walk. A black jeep stops on the side of her. Keiara knows better than to entertain strangers in black vehicles. She ignores and keeps on walking. The owner blows the horn catching her attention and puts down his glass. At the driver's seat leaning forward is Mr. Watt.

"Need a ride?" He asks.

"No thanks. I'm good sir." Keiara says not wanting to get a ride with his up tight self.

"Seeing that it's going to rain and I'm figuring you can't walk home, the safest thing would be to hop in. Wouldn't want to catch a cold, would you?"

Keiara groans. He is right. It is about to rain. As much as she'd rather be in a cold war than getting into this uptight teacher's car she didn't want to catch a cold. That would mean days in bed and mid terms are almost there and she'd hate to miss it. "Okay." and she hops in. As the door closes the rain begins to pour.

"Thanks." says Keiara.

"No probs. Now where to?'' he says. Keiara notices that he actually has a nice voice when he's not yelling at her.

"You could just drop me off at the next bus stop and I'll find my way from there."

"Don't be ridiculous. Look at the weather. It'd not be a problem to drop you off."

"Okay." Keiara gives him her address giving up on arguing with this man. At least she knows he is too strict to try to maybe kill her in the woods.

"So how why were you walking home?" he asks curious.

"My dad had an important meeting and my boyfriend was busy."

"Is the guy I saw you with the other day your boyfriend?"

"Not that it is any of your business sir but yes he is."

"Hmmmm." says Mr. Watt.

Keaira looks at him. "What's that for?"

He keeps his eyes on the road and speaks. "Well you didn't catch me as the type to be dating a guy like that."

Keiara raises an eyebrow. "What do you mean by that? You don't know me."

"True but from what I have observed about you, it didn't strike me that you'd be one to date a guy like that." Keiara ignored his statement. it would be quite weird discussing her love life with a lecturer who is making judgemental statements. She didn't have time entertain all of this.

"And it didn't strike me that a guy like you would be lecturing at our college. How old are you anyway? "she shot back.

"Quite a spit fire I see. I'm actually 26 years old."

"Aren't you too young to be taking in children's stress? Don't you want to live life?"

"I have lived all the life I can." he says seriously. " After gaining my masters degree in Mathematics at the University of the West Indies and finishing at teacher's college, I decided to put both degrees into good use and despite my age the board of directors here thought I'd be a good asset to this school."

Keiara believed him since her father would take nothing but the best to have at the institution.

"That's good." she says.

"I already know you're studying literature but what is your major?" he asks. No lecturer has asked her so many personal questions before. Not even those she frequent with everyday and have known her since birth.

"Sociology."

"Good field. What about it that intrigues you?"

"I just simply want to help others."

"That's a good cause." Keiara notices a smile. Wow Mr. Watt looks even more handsome when he smiles. Keiara couldn't help but admire and comments. "You should do that more often."

"What?" he questions and turns to her.

"Smile." she says.

"Yeah I have been working on that." he says honestly.

They ride in silence the rest of the way. "Thanks that's my street." says Keiara. Mr. Watt stops the jeep.

"Were you seriously going to walk all that way?"

"If I had to." she says and hops off. "Thanks for the ride sir."

"No problem. Take care." And he drives off.

Keiara walks up the road into the empty house. She uses her key and enters. She is starving and cold. She goes upstairs and puts her book bag down then comes back down to the kitchen. There is a note from her mom on the refrigerator.

"Dinner's in the oven. Your dad and I will be late tonight. Love you honey."

Keiara opens the oven and finds baked mac and cheese and chicken in the oven. She eats it all up then goes into her room. She decides to freshen up, get some homework done and then go on Wattpad to read a novel by one of her favourite wattpad writers Spicym. It's 10:30 when she gets a text from Jeremy.

J: Hey babe. Miss u. Practice just done.

Miss you too.

J: Is it too late for me to come over?

Keiara hears the door downstairs open. Her parents have arrived.

Guess so parents home.

J: Okay babe. See you tomorrow. Love you.

Love you too.
