Pring ran as fast as she could. She ran over the small hills and through the trees, letting the cool air flow over her body, and happiness washed through her. Once she made it to the woods, Pring was out of breath and had to slow down. The happiness that had consumed her only moments before left in a flash. It was very dark, and she couldn't see much. Pring had no idea what to do next.
There was somewhat of a path through the tall, leafy trees. Pring tried to follow it and ended up getting lost. She couldn't remember which way was home. But she kept walking, in search for any sign of human life.
In the distance she saw a small house, a cottage. Relieved, yet also wary, Pring made her way to the cottage. She walked forward, over the long rock path. She knocked on the old wood door, and heard groans from inside.
The door swung open, and standing there was a short, strange looking man. He had pale skin, a wide face, short brown hair that was parted in the middle, and a large mustache.
"What do you want?" asked the man in a high pitched, posh, yet also angry, voice.
Shocked, the princess stepped back and stuttered, "I, um, well I, I'm looking for a place to stay."
A mischievous smirk spread across the small man's face.
"Why, come in dear, it's too dark for a girl like you to be out alone. Something could get ya!" The man laughed, "You can call me Julius. What's your name?"
Pring hesitated. "My name's Pring, I'm the princess. But you can't tell anyone that I'm out here!"
"Of course, after all, who would I tell?" Julius still had a suspicious smirk, and looked as though he was up to something. Pring however, had to trust him with her life.
"Well sit down, child!" Julius motioned to the dirty couch that was off to the right of the door, facing a fireplace that had just died out.
"Thank you," Pring said as she sat down on the couch.
Julius had been going around his house, gathering blankets and a pillow. He set them on the couch and said, "You can sleep here for tonight. I will be in the room down the hall, and I hope to talk more in the morning."
He walked over to the door, and slyly locked it, putting the key in his pocket. Julius walked back past the couch, and to a small hallway, which he turned down and walked out of Pring's view. Pring laid on the couch, tossed a blanket over herself, and shut her eyes. If she had not been so exhausted she might not've even fallen asleep. However, seconds after Pring shut her eyes, she drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
