*Eren's POV*

Having Levi at the house and living with the Jaegers was a truly interesting experience. He was almost like a phantom, one would never know he was even at their house if it weren't for the attic that he was residing in or the now spotless look of the house, thanks to Levi's cleaning habits. Doctor Grisha often left Eren and Michaela with Levi, having enough faith in the man to care for them. Levi wouldn't say much to them, but he made sure they made it to and from school every day and that they were feed and looked presentable. He made them stay on top of their studies and homework, and often checked it before allowing them to go out into the street to play their daily game of soccer.

Eren, however, soon found himself less and less attracted to playing soccer. He began staying inside, spending more time with the introverted man, watching what he did and his activities while they would usually be outside playing.

Levi would dismiss them to play, and when Michaela left and Eren stayed behind, he hardly paid the boy any attention.

"Don't you want to go play futball?" He'd ask, and Eren would politely decline. Levi only shrugged, going on about his business.

His 'business' was fairly simple, make a cup of tea from a rather large bag of tea leaves that he'd brought with him, and start reading a worn book. Eren would locate a book of his own, pretending to read it while instead observing Levi and his actions.

Levi would read for a while, sipping his tea from time to time, holding the cup by the rim instead of by the handle. When Eren inquired about this strange behavior, Levi gave him a simple answer.

"I had a bad experience with tea handles. I suppose you could say I don't trust them now." The ravenette replied, not even looking up from his book.

After reading a chapter of so, Levi would soon start staring out the window, watching the kids play. Or at least, that's what Eren thought he was watching. Soon he discovered that he wasn't watching them at all. He was just spacing out, thinking about God knows what. Eren often wanted to ask him what ran through his mind during these times, but he never did.

Soon Levi would snap out of his daze, read for a bit more before getting up and putting his book away. He would go to the bathroom then return, fiddling with the eye patch he wore over his right eye. He still had the limp fro the first day he'd arrived, and Eren began to conclude that maybe he'd had an amputated leg and was using a fake one.

"Oi, since you're so interested in staying inside, help me with supper." Levi would say, and Eren would eagerly agree.

Levi was a very good cook. Even with the smidgen of rations they received, he could still pull together a hearty and filling meal that was also fairly tasty. But today, he pulled out a bag of various vegetables, some of which Eren had never even seen before.

"What is that?" The brunette asked as Levi pulled out an eggplant.

"An eggplant."

"Eggplant? That's no eggplant, it's purple," Eren retorted, causing Levi to smirk lightly.

"Yes, that may be the case. But that is what it is called. Here, cut this onion for me." He said, handing him an onion and a knife. Eren wasted no time to peel the onion and begin slicing it up, but soon found his eyes to start watering up and burn. He let out a few sniffles, trying not to complain about the horrible feeling, but it soon grew too painful to ignore.
