Levi is a highschool senior at a local highschool in Bridgeport, Illinois. Eren is an incoming freshman, seemingly excited about his first day of highschool. They live 'normal' high school lives, Levi being one of the main heartthrobs and Eren being a practical nobody. But this doesn't bother Eren at all. He sees highschool as a way to make new friends and help move on from his mother's untimely death.

*Eren's P.O.V*

I'm finally a nineth grader! No, not 'nineth grader', that's way too....kiddish. I'm a full fledged freshman! I'm pratically buzzing as Missy--she's like my sister-- and I walk up toward the building. Bridgeport HIgh--our local highschool.

"Come on MIss, I want to see if Armin's here yet!" I pleaded, tugging her toward the building doors. Missy sighs, not looking too excited about this.

"I don't want to see you get into any more trouble, Eren...."

"I wooon't," I whine, tugging her arm more. There are tons of kids already piling inside, and I'm just dying to be next.

"Eren! Missy!"

"Armin!" I said, seeing my best friend waving to us from inside. I run over, Missy following behind.

"Can you believe it? We're finally freshmen!" He said. Armin was just as excited as I was, his eyes glimmering around the busy school.

"Yeah, it's gonna be great--MIssy what-- Missy?"

I looked around, then spotting her a bit farther down, some tall guy blocking her way out and leaning against a locker, looking at Missy with a cocky grin, trying to talk to her. I frown, walkiing over.

"Hey, guy, back off. She doesn't want to deal with you." I said, giving him a frown. He scoffed, looking at me with that same stupid look.

"Whatever freshy. Beat it, shrimp." He said, rolling his eyes and looking back at MIssy, who looked really bored of him. "Anyway.....So you're new here, huh?"

I frowned even more, giving this guy a shove. "I said back off buster."

The guy frowned at me, turning toward me and rolling up his letterman jacket sleeve.

"Look shrimp, I said 'beat it'. Unless you want to get beat up in front of your girlfriend here." He sneered, his jock friends starting to swarm around him.

I got in his face, an intense frown on my face. "She's not my girlfriend, and I'm not going anywhere man."

The guy snickered a bit, looking around at all his friends before giving me a hard shove into a locker. "You think you can just come into our school, trying to be tough? Huh. Good luck kid." He said, giving me another push before Missy pushed him away.

"Leave him alone," she said harshly, glaring at this horse-faced guy. Horse face looked shocked when she intervined, but dusted off his jacket, huffing.

"So you're her little pet friend? You gotta have a girl defend you, shrimpo?" He sneered, starting to snicker again. I frowned even more, clenching my fists.

"N-No! Just you watch it you jerk I'll...I'll..."

"You'll what? Cry to your little girl friend?" He chuckled, crossing his arms. I was about to say something  back when a deep voice came from behind him.

"Kirschtein, are you done playing with the freshmen? We've got shit to do. Get a move on."

The 'Kirschtein' guy let out a small 'Tsk', moving out the way to reveal a rather squat guy, also wearing a letterman jacket. He had really jet-black hair and his eyes where like a blueish grey, but I couldn't get over how...well.... short he was. He had to be no taller than five three. Surrounded by the rest of us, he looked like a midget. But his expression was pretty scary, for such a short guy. He looked bored, but he also looked like he would punch your lights out if you made him angry. I caught myself staring at him before anyone else noticed, thank God.

"Yeah....sorry Captain Levi." Kirschtein said, walking over to join Levi's group of people. Levi looked at all three of us, and....did he give me a once over?

"You three. Beat it."

Armin (of course) was ready to move out right away, but I couldn't help but challenge this guy.

"No. You're not my mother, I'm not going anywhere." I said, feeling proud of myself. Missy gave me a look, but I barely had time to react and really enjoy standing up to this guy when I was slammed back into the locker. Except this time, my head rammed right into the metal door, which hurt. A lot.

"Listen you little shitty brat, when I say beat it," he yanked me off the locker by my collar, sending me to the floor. He crouched down, pulling me up by my collar to meet my face to his. "You beat it, got it?" He said, his voice cold and his expression murderous. I nodded, unable to speak. He let me go, and this is when I finally noticed Missy was being held back by two of his friends and was struggling like hell to get at Levi.

"Let me go you jerks!"

"Let her go." Levi said, pulling out a hankerchief-- wait what?-- and wiping off his hands. He didn't look back at us as he walked off, his group following close behind. Kirschtein--no, Horse face sneered at me and Missy glared up at him as she tried to help me up.

"That douche.....are you alright?"

"Y-Yeah...." I said, rubbing the back of my head once she got me up. "Ouch..."

"Oh my. Picking a fight with Levi huh? You're one crazy freshman!" A queer voice said from behind us. We turned to see a brunette girl with bangs and her hair in a ponytail, her glasses reflecting the ceiling lights. She held a camera around her neck, snapping a picture of me.

"Huh?"

"Well listen kid, don't let it get to you. He's a really cool guy when you get to know him. Aha! I'm going to have to log this in my research....." she said, writing something on her hand with a blue pen. "I'm Hanji, nice to meet you! Say, what--"

"Hanji! Get your ass over here and stop interviewing those brats."  I heard Levi call--man, his voice really carries-- to her.

"Coming Levi! See ya aroud kid!" She giggled, running off down the hall after them all. And like clock work, the bell for first period rang.

"Come on Eren. You sure you don't need the nurse?" Armin asked, looking at me with worry.

"Nah, I'm not going to miss my first high school class because of some jerky jock guy." I said, giving Armin a grin. Let's go!"

As we walked down the hallway to first period, Levi's face burned in my mind.

He....seems so vaguely familiar.....why.......?
