~~ Definition of Hemlock - A highly poisonous European Plant of the parsley family.~~

Around his ankle was a shackle covered in his own blood. The skin and scales there were rubbed raw. His eyes were hungry, his body twitched like mine. We were one in the same now, Hemlock and I, he may have had been through it longer than I did but that didn't matter. I knew how he felt. And I knew that either way this ended, it would be a blood bath.

I growled under my breath as he roared at me, it was as if he was slightly in control, because he just stared at me. If it were me I would've already started attacking.

He moved closer and together we started circling. "You can't be serious about this Reed!" Pine wined. I kept my gaze sharp, my guard up, and I said to him, lower than my voice had ever gone before. "I am."

I stepped closer to him and his challenging roar, he was playing by forest rules, if I were to roar back then this fight and a single death would be justified. Pine stepped back when he saw the look in my eyes. A guttural sound resonated from my very core, a roar backed up by my dead friends, Spruce, Birch, Fern, I was doing this for Pines father, for them all.

Saliva danced its way down my teeth and hit the ground as I steadied myself. I never closed my eyes, I stared deep into his broken soul. And felt no pity.

Pine ran away, I wanted to call him a coward, but if I were to turn my head the wrong way I'd be slaughtered. I was now as big as Hemlock, sturdier, more robust. I was younger and faster.

There was a silence on the earth, all of the brachiosaurus calls were quieted. All of the hoots from the parasaurolophus stopped. I enjoyed this last moment of silence before the storm, before the cuts, the bruises, the death. A single, lone leaf, fell on the ground in between the both of us. We looked up to each other. This was it. Thunder struck the sky above us in s heavenly thump as our clawed feet scratched the earth beneath us.

The battle of two titans had begun, and the great god Thor had brought a storm to rejoice in it. Hemlocks jagged teeth made their way down my back as I bit into his right thigh and knocked him over. The cold, muddy ground was enveloping him as he tried to stand. I bit down on his neck and stabbed my toe claws into his frail stomach. He stopped. A single flinch and that was it. Did I hit a vital organ in his neck? Maybe I stabbed into his lungs with my foot.

I backed away, startled by his still body. There was no way. I turned around, the howling winds blocked my hearing from him standing. The winds blocked my hearing from him running toward me. Serrated teeth dug into my neck and thrashed over and over. I saw black dots and I felt my life flash before me.

The wind screeched loudly in my ears as he tossed me toward the edge of the cliff, the waves crashed as his teeth slid out of my neck. I got up shakingly, roaring at him and making the blood in my neck spurt out. Oddly I was beginning to feel it less and less.

In Hemlocks blood was The Red Haze, and I had tasted his blood multiple times already. It was starting to take effect and I started laughing. He looked shocked, he couldn't possibly know what was happening. I used his shocked moment as an opening and bit into his back, his jaws reached around for my hand, only finding it gone. Maybe the Death Ring was a good thing. No, no it wasn't.

We pushed each other aside as we heard multiple bellows. Both of us looked into the darkening sky, rain pelting our eyes. A massive herd of dreadnoughtus came through the tree line, lead by none other than Pine.

The sauropods surrounded Hemlock and once one smacked him in the face they all joined in. His body was whipped back and forth with thick tails and once he fell on the floor they stopped. It was my fight, it was Pines fight. Together.

I raced forward and picked him up by his neck, throwing him toward the cliff side. It was my turn. I thought.

He suddenly got up and made new holes in my neck with his monstrous teeth. I looked around him, it was blurry, but I could see a shape moving toward us. I could see Pine. I heard the wet slice of meat and I was dropped on the ground. I stood up to see Pines massive horns through Hemlocks body.

With a slight movement of his head the triceratops slid the monster off of his horns, one broke off inside Hemlocks starving body.

I looked down, it was over. He was dead. Then I felt a pressure on my side. Hemlocks dead white eyes stared at me and I could feel his blood pouring on my proto-feathers.

I couldn't push him off of me, I was too weak. The crashing of waves below me made the situation even more urgent. I was directly on the side of the cliff. My claws slipped on the mud, the wind was wrapping its long arms around my body, enveloping me in a cold embrace as I hit the water.

My breath was knocked out of me instantly and with the saltwater flooding my mouth I felt like this was it. I heard Hemlocks dead body hit the water above me. I was three fathoms below the surface, I felt small fish bite at the blood around me, my blood would bring bigger fish. Bigger fish with sharper teeth.

I felt myself floating to the surface so I kicked my feet, propelling myself forward. As soon as I broke the surface I swallowed lungfuls of air and was instantly slammed into the rocks. I couldn't possibly explain the pain because I didn't feel it. The tiny amount of Red Haze had left my system and now my eye sight was blackened.

The coldness and the taste of the saltwater faded and instead of floating in the water I felt like I was floating in the clouds. Gone with the roaring waves and screeching winds. I was in the sea. And the thought of survival was futile.

~~ I know this ones a bit shorter y'all, it's the Holidays after all, but now that they're over I can finally get to writing more often~~
