"There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be..."

Kaylee woke up at around eight in the morning at the sound of violent chirping from outside her window.

She had decided to head down to kitchen in hopes of preparing the Taco Bell leftovers they had from the trip on the way here when she spotted her grandmother already doing the task herself. It was rather strange to see the lady do something like this when in reality, the blonde was always in charge of things that concerned food

Nonetheless, the blonde stood still as a hallow feeling began to grow in her chest. This was real, and they were living in this new reality.

Seattle was in the past now when just two days ago, she hadn't dreamt of leaving.

"Hey grandma," she let out groggily, raising her hand to rub her eyes excruciatingly slow. "You're already up?"

"Now, now, Kaylee Margaux Westfall, I should be surprised and asking you the same thing myself," Rose pointed out.

The blonde wasn't a morning person. Every day in Seattle, she'd sleep at the brink of dawn and wake up just as the sun began to fall below the horizon. So for her to be awake this early came as a surprise to both of them, to say the least.

The night before hadn't provided much sleep and rest for her after all. There was something rather odd about having an incredibly huge room only to herself. Back at home, she had always shared a room with Rose. She had always been weary to leave the woman alone during the night on most days. It was only during the trip here did the woman in question beg her to keep the room for herself while she did the same.

There was a musky old smell to the room which she absolutely loathed. If anything, it smelled like an ancestral home at its finest.
Kaylee couldn't help but stay up and think about the differences she'd have to deal with between the people back home and where she was now. Seattle was filled with people of all kinds, therefore making her wonder what kind of people resided here.

She remembered her friends from school. They had been there with her from middle school all the way to sophomore year. It had come as a shock to them when the news arrived that Kaylee would be moving to a new place and would not be joining them for their junior year.
Her friend, Tiarra Shell, was devastated. The moment the words regarding the sudden move left her mouth, the raven haired girl was already on her knees, wearing an extremely pained expression.

"How could you, Westfall! You said you were going to help me snag Kevin Hartfeld during the Winter Formal!"

Another friend of hers, Haven Ross, looked stunned to say the least. She wouldn't put it past the girl to feel sad as well. Because after all, the brunette had been with the blonde even before getting boys to like you was a thing. Kaylee couldn't lie. It pained her to see the girl's expression fall like that so quickly.

"You're leaving? Are you sure?"

What confused the blonde however was the sudden look of disappointment on the face of the other Ross sibling, Finneas Ross.
Just like his sister, he had brown hair. His, however, came off as mousse rather than a deep heavy brown like his sister's. His eyes matched Haven's, pale and blue. His stare however looked unsure, almost puzzled at what the blonde had just announced to the group.
He didn't say anything though.

Throughout the night, Kaylee seemed to smile fondly at the thought of her friends back in Seattle. Glad her room had enough service for a skype call, she had called the group two hours after she had first arrived.

Tiarra and Haven were glad to see her. Almost too glad, even. Finn, as she called her, however, was nowhere to be found.

They had talked for at least three hours before the blonde could peep a tiny bit off sun rise above the skyline. Soon after, she felt the drowsiness take over.
