Chapter Twelve

As I lay, writhing and screaming on the ground, all I can think about is all the good things that will happen if I die here.

If I die, this war will end. If I die, I can see my parents again. If I die, this pain will end. If I die, I won't hurt anymore.

I let out a scream. I cried out for Lucius to kill me. I cried out to Draco to make it stop. Nobody did anything. I was so desperate, I cried out to Scabior, since he was one of the Death Eaters restraining Draco.

Nothing. Just more pain. I tried to scream, but I lost my voice.

Then there was no more sound. All was silent. Then the pain lessened. I knew the curse had been lifted, but I was still in pain. Deep down, in my heart, I knew I was dying. My muscles were twitching and I couldn't control it. My breath was coming out in short bursts, and I was having trouble breathing.

Draco ran over to me and sat down next to me. He cradled me in his arms. I could feel his tears hit my face. He knew I was dying, I could see it in his eyes.

"Draco..." I whispered.

"Please don't die, Nova," He pleaded. "Please. I need you."

I didn't have the heart to tell him he was fighting an already lost battle. There was no way he could save me. Nobody could. I was already a goner.

"Draco, I love you" I whispered to him As a sharp pain shot through my body. I gritted my teeth and tried not to make a noise to show my pain.

"I love you, Nova" He murmured.

"Voldemort...?" I said softly, not having the strength to finish the question.

"He's dead" Draco said. Good. That’s all that matters. The man who killed my parents is dead.

"This is exactly how I want to die." I said to him.

"Because of my father?" Draco choked out through his sobs.

"No, In your arms" I whispered to him.

"Everybody wants to die in the arms of the person they love, but nobody wants the person they love to die in their arms." Draco said.

"Kiss me." I whispered without thinking about it. Draco leaned down and I put my hand on his cheek. He pressed his lips onto mine softly. I could feel hot tears hitting my face. Draco broke the kiss, then wiped his tears off my face.

Most of the pain had stopped and I was feeling very sleepy. I wondered if it is this peaceful for everyone when they die. I started to let my eyes close when Draco said. "Don't you dare close your eyes. Don't do this to me, Nova"

"Dray... I can't" I whispered

"Don't leave me!" He yelled. My vision started to go in and out of focus. Finally a glossy shine went over Draco's face, then everything went black.
