Jeongin stood in front of the door to a classroom, unwilling to take a step inside and enter. The dreaded day had finally came, the day he officially transferred schools to where his step brother currently learned. It wasn't that he was afraid of the new school, he had enough bravery to face a whole new group of people. But it was the fact that he'd be going to the same school as his step brother.
As soon as Jeongin takes one step into that classroom, he's facing the reality he's desperately trying to run away from. He'll have to see Hyunjin's face all hours of the day, go home with him after school everyday, go to lunch with him everyday. The only solstice he'd be able to find was in the classes he takes, but even then who knows if they shared a class together somehow? It was extremely tempting for the boy to turn on his heel on made a mad dash towards his home, his old home.
But then he remembered what his dad had told him. He promised that if Jeongin could deal with Hyunjin at school for a week, he'd get his braces removed as soon as possible. While his step mother found his braces adorable (and frankly he was little flattered by her saying that), he was sick of the having these metal bars on his teeth. He couldn't touch his teeth without feeling the jail that kept them locked away. While he didn't like Hyunjin, his hatred for braces was even stronger.
He reached towards the door handle, before the door swung open itself. Jeongin quickly retracted his hand out of fear of getting hit by the door as he stepped back away from it. When he looked up again it was a teacher that stood in his way, looking down on him like he was a small child. "You really are here. I was wondering where the new student was, I didn't see a new face at the desks." He stated, urging him to enter with him.
Jeongin reluctantly did so, following after him into the chattering classroom. His eyes scanned the class, making eye contact with the students who bothered to check who had came in. There were murmurs and whispers that began to stir up as Jeongin continued to walk behind the teacher. "Hey, hey, quiet down! You all are entirely too loud." The teacher spoke, catching the attention of the class.
The class quieted down and all attention was placed on Jeongin. Though the boy spaced out, staring at the back of the classroom as he was lost in his thoughts. All he could really think about was his friends from his school in Busan. Though they didn't talk as much as they used to know that they were in Seoul, they were still close friends of his. He remembered that two of his friends were foreigners, one from China and one from America, and he had some upperclassmen friends too...
"Jeongin." A voice snapped him out of his daze. He turned his neck towards the teacher in confusion, looking for clarification on what was happening. "Introduce yourself." They stated, pointing towards the class. He glanced over to see that the entire class was still staring at him, some giggled as they found his situation funny.
"Jeongin. Yang Jeongin." He told him, fiddling with his fingers and feeling the metal cage on his teeth with his tongue. "I'm from Busan and I moved here with my dad and my step mom..." Jeongin trailed off, wondering if he should mention Hyunjin or not. Though the thought of mentioning Hyunjin worse several situations he didn't want to be in, so he ultimately decided against it.
