Chapter 10 - What I Needed

Preparing for the plan wasn't hard. All we needed was a letter, an observer and Wendy. I watched everyone rushing in and out doing different things, some were just going out. For example Gray and Juvia went back to Juvia's old work, at the dolphin swimming zoo and they experienced what Natsu and I had enjoyed in the past.

"Hey Lu" I turned my head to see my short bluenette friend. It felt like forever since we had a heart to heart. 

"Hey Levy, how you holding up being away from school" I teased the girl. I knew she loved school, well at least the english department. 

"I don't know being away from our beloved english teacher Mira, makes me want to cry" She dramatically spoke and I couldn't help but laugh.

After our odd laughing fit we had a deep conversation, just about random things, however it made me realize something. 

"It's weird, normal girls our age are talking about what color they should dye their hair, yet we are here involved in this crazy situation" I spoke my mind. It was true, if it weren't for Natsu I could be at home dyeing my hair brown or getting my nails done or shopping. It didn't matter though because I love Natsu and I wouldn't take anything back if I could, would I?

"But we are here with these amazing people, our friends" Levy smiled in an attempt to lift my spirits. 

"Strangers you mean" I sighed.

"What do you mean?" Levy raised an eyebrow at my remark.

"I don't know, sometimes I fell like I don't know these people and I question if I'll spend my life with them" I vented, it felt nice to finally tell someone how I felt. The only question was did Levy feel the same.

"Don't be silly Lu" Levy gently hit my shoulder.

"You know these people and you love them all, and in return they love you back" Levy reassured me giving me a hug. It was sweet of her but deep down the feeling wasn't going away. 

The day had past and the letter had been delivered, now we were just waiting for a reply. I sat on my bed anxiously awaiting Natsu. I knew that he might be feeling a little moody after visiting his old house to deliver the letter so I wanted to be there for him. 

"Hey Luce" The door opened and the pinkette automatically brightened the room with his smile. Dang, I would never get used to that smile. It seemed like his mood wasn't effected as he gave me a kiss before sitting on the bed with me. 

"Can I quiz you?" Out of the blue Natsu asked me.

"What do you mean, quiz me?" I was curious but also cautious.

"Like just in case the police get us, you need to know your stuff, if the police find us this time, we are only speaking the truth" He answered. It seemed legit so I played along. 

"Ok so Gray, how did you two meet"

"While attempting to prove Natsu's innocence, Gray and I dressed as cops. It was funny because he thought he looked so cool in his costume, his a bit cocky sometimes. But in reality I met Gray at a party 3 years ago, we had a brief discussion and then we had sex" 

"WAIT WHAT?" Natsu jumped up.

"I'm just kidding around" I laughed at his reaction. So aggressive and protective, I couldn't help but love him. 

"Your too cheeky, but next question what are Erza's main talents and what traits does she need to pursue them"

"Erza has many talents but they don't make her as a person, she's funny but she knows when to be serious and she is the best leader the world has ever seen, she is going to be president one day, if she isn't already" I giggled remembering Erza's crazy list of jobs.

"Good answer, now what about Levy, tell me about her"

"Well Levy is my best friend, always has been, always will be, she's loyal, supportive, a bookworm like me and even though she makes some irrational decisions, they are always with good intention" I spoke genuinely about my best friend. Everything I said I meant, no matter what I could always count on Levy. 

"Thats cute" Natsu teased.

"How about Gajeel, how is he related to all of this?" The question took me off guard considering Gajeel's innocence had yet to be proven, nevertheless I still knew the answer.

"Gajeel, well he is innocent regardless of what the cops say and he tries to hide behind this whole tough act but deep down his a real softie. He is involved because him and Natsu are friends and I guess they bonded over being accused of crimes they didn't commit" I answered.

"Good answer once again, and Juvia?"

"Juvia originally worked in a zoo, swimming with the dolphins to be exact. However he father forced her into early police work with her older sister. Juvia isn't a dirty cop because she fights for justice, she was shy at first but when you get to know her you will see how passionate she is, especially about Gray" I giggled thinking about how crazy Juvia can get over the raven haired boy.

"And well last but most certainly not least, me. What would you say about me"

I took a deep breath before answering "Natsu Dragneel is a bomb, he came into my life and changed it drastically. At first I wasn't sure about how I felt but I came to realize that he is the most genuine person alive. He knows how to make anyone laugh and when he smiles you just can't help but smile too. And how could i forget that he is outrageously sexy" I gave him a wink when I finished. His mile grew so big and like I said, I had to smile too.

"There is proof"  He sighed staring into my eyes. I looked at him questioningly.

"Proof that you do know us, regardless of what you think, your one of us" He gave me a smile.

"How did you know ..." 

"Levy spoke to me about your conversation this morning" He sighed. I recognized what he was talking about and let my head fall. So all this whole quiz was just to prove a point.

"Lucy, the only person who doubts your bond with us all, is you" I felt his finger lift my chin up. Looking in his onyx eyes I felt embarrassed of the fuss I made. 

"I know, sometimes I just feel... UGH" I breathed in frustration, it was difficult to put my emotions in words. Natsu let out a giggle at my annoyance. 

"We all love you Luce, especially me" I couldn't help but smile, his beautiful grin forced me to do so. 

"Thanks Natsu, this is what I needed" I sighed. I had felt so unsure about everyone weather it be Natsu or Gajeel but after that talk I felt so reassured and confident in my relationships. Most importantly I knew I had a purpose here and that was to clear Natsu's name and nothing would stop me.
