With every family there is always the rebellious child, people say it tends to be the middle child however for the Dragneel's it was all three. I had learnt about their family over the course of staying with Natsu. His dad and mother were money hungry monsters. They didn't give Natsu the childhood he deserved, for them it always about publicity and earning cash. I could tell that no matter how much Natsu hated them a part of him was deeply hurt by them. He preferred to show anger then hurt but I knew the sorrow was killing him inside. I wished I could talk to him about it but I was afraid he would lash out at me, I knew how hard it was for him to discuss his feelings. Sometimes he was open and then sometimes he was in his own world, isolated from other humans.
I also knew Wendy, Natsu's little sister. She was shy but also very quirky. She too hated her parents but when she got older I knew that hate would also turn into hurt. I wonder if she ever wondered about what her life would be like if she had loving parents.
The one dragneel I knew the least about was the mysterious Zeref, he was a real wonder. From the photos I could tell his hair was jet black and his skin was insanely pale. Natsu told me he was the most rebellious of all the children. The way the pinkette described him made him see terrifying.
Thats why I was so nervous when Natsu told me I would be giving him Wendy. It was only took a few hours for Mrs Dragneel to respond to our blackmail letter. She signed Wendy over to Zeref in court even if Zeref wasn't there. I had no idea if that was legal or not. Considering that the Dragneel's were wealthy they could easily pay of the judge to make it legal.
"Ok so is your boob camera working?" Gray asked.
"Gray you can just call it a camera" I rolled my eyes.
"No its a boob camera" Gray giggled.
"Why do I even need this" I sighed.
"Its so we know whats going on, mainly for your protection" Gajeel called out from the couch.
"Camera's working" Levy gave a thumb up to me.
"Why would I need protection" I began to worry.
"You won't but it's just precaution, like if you get lost or something" Natsu placed his warm hands on my shoulders. Somehow he always helped me calm down. Taking a few deep breaths I headed out the doors.
Annoyingly enough I had to walk to the destination. Once I arrived I realized it was plain boring bus stop. Most of all it was full of people. I clenched Wendy's hands keeping her close to me. Erza warned me that Zeref might try to take Wendy without giving the evidence he held. Zeref described his trade as what Natsu needs so technically we had no idea if it was real. However we had to trust and hope.
"Wendy" I heard a deep but soothing voice call. I quickly turned around and held Wendy close to me.
"You must be Zeref" I spoke. The man averted his eyes to me and gave me at first a cold harsh stare. Slowly his eyes seemed more welcoming.
"And you are?"
"Layla" I lied. Having a fake name was probably for the best.
"Well Layla let me escort you to my limo" He took my free arm and linked it with his before leading Wendy and I both into a pitch black limo. I was suspicious and afraid but this was for Natsu so I pushed those feelings aside. I felt Wendy shake a little in fear but I gave her a reassuring smile.
"Can I have Wendy" Zeref looked up at me after we all sat in the long car.
"I want the evidence first" I demanded which caught him off guard.
"Your a smart girl" He gave me a devious smirk and somehow I knew I was in trouble.
