The day was hectic, as expected from the first day at school. Of course, Stefan went out of his way, calling me by my middle name in front of everyone, leaving them wondering who the heck Emery was. While I was internally and externally groaning at his annoying acts, Hannah and Keith were giving me questioning glances as to why the Satan was acting weird and how the fuck did he know my middle name. Trust me, if I had the answer to that question, I would have told them.
Carl picked me up from school as Casey had her Drama Club practice and Colton was taking extra classes with his Einstein girlfriend after school.
"How was your day, Little C?" He asked while driving through the traffic.
"Same old, Same old. You know it, Big C." I sighed.
He laughed. "Of course I do. Did that King boy trouble you?"
I chuckled at his unconcerned question. "When does he not?"
"I don't get it." Carl frowned.
"Don't get what?"
"You and him. I mean, there's me, Colt and Casey too along with his other three siblings but we don't fight as much as you do. We avoid each other but you both get into each other's way to annoy the other out intentionally." He says, his voice laced with suspicion.
I laughed. "I like to get him to the brink of craziness and back, Carl. It's fun to see him go all caveman. I'm quite proud of myself and so is grandpa."
We share a look and grin at each other. "Well, then I guess I'll have to start annoying Stella King to get on grandpa's good books? I know why grandpa favours you so much now." HE teases.
I playfully swat his arms, laughing along with him. "Well, in all honesty, Stella King is kind at heart." I blurt.
"I won't know. I don't invest my time in that family." He snorted.
"Yeah, and I love to invest my time in their family." I remarked sarcastically.
Carl laughed and ruffled my hair making me glare playfully at him. "Mum Dad's home. Grandpa too." He informed me as he parked the car in the driveway.
My eyes glimmered with happiness and excitement. "Grandpa's back from visiting Aunt Matilda?!"
"I think I just said that." Carl rolled his eyes but I was too happy to care.
I jumped out of his car and dashed to the front of our house and kicked open the door. "Grandpa!" I yelled, calling out for my favorite man on the planet.
"Right here kiddo." An amused voice replied back from the living room.
I didn't wait for any other second as I dumped my bag in the hallway and rushed towards the living room. "Grandpa!" I said, jumping into his arms. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you alright." He teases and I glare at him.
"I know you love me the most." I countered.
He rubbed his chin and made and expression of being deep in thought. Then he sighed and looked at me with sad eyes. "I'd say that I ain't a biased man but then I'll be lying."
I took me a moment to understand what he meant and I take it as a good sign because I was about to get angry at him. Instead, I grinned and turned around to smirk at Carl. He chuckled and rolled his eyes, not giving me a satisfied reaction. I then turned to grandpa and we indulged ourselves in simple conversation.
"Hey sweetheart." Dad greeted as he came out of the kitchen along with mom with some snacks and soda a in tray.
"Hey Dad." I grinned as I hugged him and them my Mum. "Mum."
