"Are you guys ready?" Dad asks us once we head downstairs with our respective luggage.I'm just carrying my school bag, a suitcase and a duffle bag that contains toiletries and other random things. Carl is happy with just his suitcase and Colton pays no heed to carry any, opting to take just a duffle bag and his schoolbag. Of course, he would want more of books than clothes. Casey, as I had suspected, is dragging down two large suitcases with great difficulty along with her purse and schoolbag. I roll my eyes at her. She can come any time here to take back the things she needs but she being the dumb kid, didn't think of it, I'm sure.
"Just a second." She huffed and continued dragging her luggage.
"All right, kids, hurry up. We don't have all day." Dad clapped his hands like some coach and hollered us outside.
"Dad, could you please help me with my bags?" Casey panted after finally giving up, giving dad her best puppy dog eyes.
Dad rolled his eyes. "Do I have a choice?" He muttered to himself. "Meera, hurry up, the kids are ready."
"I'm here! I'm here!" My mother rushed out of the door carrying some freshly baked brownies. For Josie, I'm sure, but she will eventually give it to us later so I won't whine for it now.
"Good. Let's get the kids settled then." Dad said and picked up one of Casey's heavy bags and made his way out of our driveway, across the road towards Josie's house. Rest of us followed behind.
Mum, who was only carrying the box of brownies, stepped forward to ring the bell. It felt weird, us standing at Josie's door with our luggage to be settled in for the next month. However, before my thoughts could go any wilder and I started having second thoughts about the arrangement, the door flew open and the gorgeous Josie smiled widely at us.
"Meera, David." She said, hugging both my parents simultaneously. "Oh, hey kids." SHe smiled down at us.
"Hello, Love." Carl gave her a flirty smile earning a smack on his head from dad.
"Behave." Dad warned.
Josie laughed. "Oh, it's alright. Carl's the only one who doesn't see me as auntie and I prefer that over me being old."
"You're anything but old at thirty, Josie." I remarked, smiling widely at her.
She laughed again. "Come on, in." She ushered us inside. We all made our way into her living room which we all were too familiar with.
"I see you were already prepared for our visit." Dad said, eyeing the refreshments on the small coffee table.
"Yeah, I was expecting you guys." Josie said, wiping her hands down her dress.
"Yeah, okay. How about we get the kids settled first and then fill our tummies?" Dad offered.
"Yeah, that's cool. I was just waiting for -" Josie got cut of by the ringing of the doorbell. "Oh, they're here. I'll take it." She said and rushed out of the living room leaving us confused.
"Come on in." We heard her say after a few minutes as she ushered her new guests inside. My jaw dropped upon seeing who the so called guests were. Unexpectedly, it was the Kings family.
"What are they doing here?" Both, my Dad and Stefan's dad, Mr. King growled while pointing angrily at each other.
Josie rolled her eyes. "Guys, you both very well know that both your kids will be staying with me for quite sometime. That's an absurd question you ask. And as for the answer to that - they are here to settle their kids too."
