An Opportunity
Monica has been in a horrible mood ever since what happened at the coffee shop, and she refuses to talk about it. I have to say, I find her situation kind of funny: it's not every day you see the Queen Bee of the school walking into a prestigious university lecture hall with a giant, brown stain on her outfit. Of course, I don't ever plan on telling Monica that, so I keep silent and make my way in.
You have to be careful what you say around Monica. Well, actually, you have to be careful what you say around Lindsay and Kate too. I know that from experience. Although they may have forgotten, in Elementary School they gave one of my friends, Leah, quite a hard time. I don't remember what for; it was a long time back and I'm past that, but I'm not going to make the same mistake as Leah did. She used to hang out with them too, after all, and if it could happen to her, it could easily happen to me. Anyway, I'm going to focus on the upcoming lecture, not old news that does nothing but waste my time.

As I enter, I know Monica won't be upset for long. The room is magnificent, and as the students file in, I find myself energizing more and more. Everyone is buzzing with excitement, and I stare at my surroundings as Monica, Lindsay and Kate discuss who to talk to and who to avoid.
It doesn't take long for the professor to walk in. He's an old man, but clearly enthusiastic and passionate about business. He walks in with a smile, and the noise level drops significantly. Obviously, I'm not the only one who can't wait for the classes and internship to begin. He begins the lecture, loud and strong, drowning an silences the remaining voices.
"Students and Interns of the Millenium Pre-College Buisness School," He greets us. He introduces the program, presents the agenda.
This is it. These classes and this internship could be the breaking point of my dream career.
And then, in the middle of the lecture, a young girl knocks on the door. A younger professor, presumably one of the other coordinators of the Millenium Pre-College Buisness program, rushes to the door. He opens it, and out pops another teenager. How is she late for something like this? There's pin-drop silence in the lecture hall.
"Hurry on now," the coordinator says, "we're on a tight schedule here."
The girl looks around for seats. There aren't many, but there's a few scattered seats two rows in front of mine.
The girl notices the seats and hurries towards them. That's when I notice she's the girl from the barista.
(Authors Note: Thanks for reading so much of this novel! I'd love to hear any feedback. In case you're wondering, this is still the very beginning of this story. The Dystopan, Sci-Fi and Fantasy aspects are coming up after the next two chapters. Thanks again!)
