It was 4pm and the boys began heading back to the house.
"Babe, remember, my dad's memorial service is tomorrow." Jackson said as Mark turned to look at Jackson briefly before turning back to the road.
"Yes, baby." Mark said smiling sadly. "Once we get home, we'll pick your stuff and I'll drop you at your house."
"Okay." Jackson said as he looked out of the window, thoughts of his father filling his mind. He subtly wiped a tear away, trying to hide it from Mark. But Mark did see him.
Mark parked by the side of the road.
"What's wrong?" Jackson asked as Mark undid his seatbelt and leaned towards Jackson and kissed him. Jackson relaxed into the kiss, kissing him thrice as hard. Mark wiped Jackson's tears away while they kissed. Jackson quickly broke away from the kiss. Did Mark see that he was crying?
Mark smiled at him when they had pulled away.
"I'm so sorry, baby. I don't know how you feel but I know you most feel so much pain." Mark said as Jackson looked down and bit his lips. "Don't hold it, baby. Please. You'll feel better I'd you let it out."
Immediately, Jackson burst into tears. Mark had never seen Jackson cry before. Jackson had always been so cheerful, always smiling. Seeing Jackson cry made Mark's chest sting badly. He knew that Jackson was really really hurt. Mark hugged his boyfriend, comforting him in every way he could.
"It hurts so bad." Jackson cried. "So so much."
"I'm sorry, baby. It's going to be okay. You're going to be fine, I promise." Mark said as he let Jackson cry on his shoulders for a little while longer.
"I b-begged h-him not t-to go." Jackson cried out. "I h-had a terrible f-feeling about that journey. He always travelled around the world for work but t-that particular time, it f-felt so wrong. I began missing him 2 weeks before he was to travel, I became so clingy and I was so moody. It felt like I wasn't going to see him for a long long time but that was the shortest journey he was going for. He had travelled for 3 months before, even 5 months and I didn't feel so bad or miss him as much as that time and he was going to be gone for just 3 weeks. I told him, I did. But he brushed it off and said I just wanted him to stay with him." Jackson explained, crying. Mark hugged him tight, rubbing his back and listening. "He died in a plane crash."
Mark closed his eyes at the news, wishing that Jackson would feel less hurt and broken.
"It's okay, baby. I promise I'm here for you." Mark said.
"Mark, please, don't ever leave me, I beg you." Jackson said as he pulled away and looked into Mark's eyes. His face was red and swollen with tears all over.
"I promise I would never ever leave you, Jackson Wang." Mark said as he wiped Jackson's tears with his palms. "You're my life and I love you so much."
"I love you." Jackson said as they kissed.
*******
Mark and Jackson got to the front door of Jackson's house. They had gone to Mark's house to freshen up before moving. Mark felt very very nervous. He was meeting Jackson's family for the first time even though he'd been familiar with then through phone.
"Babe, how about I go and just come back tomorrow?" He asked as Jackson rolled his eyes. "By then, I would've built my confidence?"
"Let me think, no." Jackson said as he knocked against the door.
"HOLD ON." They heard and Jackson smiled.
"Is that Amber?" Mark asked smiling as Jackson nodded.
