chapter 7

Buzz.

Ashton looked at his phone and smiled slightly, seeing a response from cdizzle.

New message from cdizzle.

Ashton unlocked his phone and clicked his onto Instagram.

cdizzle: "I'm sorry :-( No one deserves that. If someone does that then they aren't your best friend, they're just a jerk."

Ashton sighed at the message. If only they knew his ex best friend Calum, no one knew Calum like Ashton knew Calum. When you've been best friends since you were 7 and know each other for longer than that, you tend to learn secrets about each other that no one else knows or will ever know for that matter.

Ashton typed a quick response and set his phone down, getting up and walking to the kitchen.

ashtonirwin94: "I know, and everyone says that but he was my best friend and I just, I miss him so much.. you know? I wish he was still my best friend :-("

Ashton decided that maybe he should make himself dinner, it was already 10 pm and he hadn't eaten anything since lunch, not that he cared that much though. He grabbed a pot from the cabinet and filled it with water, setting down on the stove, then a pan and set it on the stove next to the pot. Turning the stove on, he walked over to the cabinet where they kept all of their pasta and pasta sauce and grabbed a box of spaghetti noodles and a jar of tomato sauce. He sat at the table and waited for for the water to boil.

-

The first time Calum had ever come over to Ashton's house for dinner was when Ashton was 8 and Calum was 7. Ashton's mother decided to make her specialty which would fill them all up and which also happened to be Ashton's favorite meal: spaghetti.

As she made dinner, Calum and Ashton played with Legos and Action Figures in Ashton's room, giggling as they made sound effects, making their action figures shoot at each other.

"Calum, Ashton, dinner's ready!" Ashton's mother called up the stairs, causing both of the boys to run down, elbowing each other out of the way. They ran into the kitchen and found their seats, sitting right next to each other. "Did you wash up before dinner?" The boys nodded, both lying as Ashton giggled at Calum.

Ashton's mother set the table and smiled as she sat across from both of them. "So, how was your guy's day?" Ashton smiled and looked at Calum, then back at his mother.

"Amazing! We played with Legos and Action Figures!" Ashton said, flailing his arms around him.

"We built a tower with the Legos and the Action Figures knocked it down!" Calum added, smiling as Ashton's mother placed a plate full of food in front of both of them.

-

"Fuck," Ashton sighed as he ran over to the stove and turned it down as the water starting boiling over the sides of the pot. Fuck, he hated daydreaming and getting lost in his thoughts so much but he couldn't help it, his thoughts and happy places put him at ease.

Ashton grabbed the box of spaghetti noodles and dumped them into the pot, stirring them around with a wooden spoon. He ran up to his room quickly and grabbed his phone, reading the last new message he had.

New message from cdizzle.

cdizzle: "I know how you feel, but hey I can be your new best friend :-)"

Ashton giggled slightly, smiling to himself.

ashtonirwin94: "That's sweet of you, but I don't even really know who you are."
