Joanna's p.o.v
I opened my eyes and I was surrounded my light. I looked around and I saw lots of clouds. The sky was pink like a beautiful sunset. Was this...heaven?

"Joanna, my child. I wasn't expecting you to be here yet."

I turned around and I saw an angel. He smiled at me and I didn't know what else to do but get on my knees and bow. The angel chuckled and told me to stand up and not be afraid.

"Excuse me, but I don't think I'm supposed to be here yet either. I can't be here yet. I'm only 19, and I there was so much I had to look forward to. What about Vernon?"

"Relax. I've come to escort you back. However, it's not that easy. Your death changed not that long ago. Before you met Vernon, this was how you were meant to die. We were afraid he wasn't going to get the chance to confess so we wanted to end your suffering. We weren't able to change your future soon enough so here you are. In order to bring you back it will cost you one of two things. Either you lose your vision completely for the rest of your life, or you lose all your memories of Vernon and risk losing him. You must choose one."

"My vision! Take my vision."

The angel seemed taken back, but he smiled and said,

"You have passed."

"Passed? Was that a test?"

"Yes. You see, the whole council of Heaven said that bringing you back to life would only be justified if it was because Vernon changed your life. So we needed proof to see he indeed is the reason for your life. You will be able to keep your vision and your memories."

"Thank you, your Graciousness."

"Don't thank me yet. I can't let you return to your body until Vernon places the ring passed down through your family onto your ring finger. But you can linger around him until that happens."

The angel made a ball of light in the palm of his hands. It flowed brightly, and when the light receded I found myself in a hospital room. I looked around and I saw Vernon sitting next to my unconscious body.

Seventeen was in the corner of the room sleeping. I couldn't help but smile seeing them laying on top of each other like a bunch of puppies.

"Joanna, I know you probably can't hear me right now. But I just want you to know that even though this is hard...I'll still be there to help you through it all. I know we can make it out of this stronger. We have too much to look forward to in the future to give up like this."

I tested up and I sat next to Vernon. I put my hand over his, and it went through his hand. I wish he knew that I could hear him, and I could see him. But then I saw something else in the corner of my eye. It was my brother, Joshua. He snuck out of the room with his guitar.
