*This is a really sad one, so if your in the Christmas spirit/ mood and maybe don't feel like crying, you probably don't want to read this. But, please read it if you want to! *

"Hello my love," I whisper as I sit down beside her.

The silence I receive is loud, almost deafing. I nod, expecting it.

I smile sadly, "It's Christmas, Kayc. You're favorite." My heart seems to crack with my voice, pinching and squeezing inside my chest.

I dig my fingers into the cold grass beneath me, willing my breath to remain normal.

I clear my throat, begging the tears to stay deep down. Please, I beg, Please don't cry. Not today.

The wind picks up suddenly, knocking over the flowers I placed before sitting down.

I stand, on my knees, and reach over to pick them up. I stop, looking at her name engraved on the hard stone.

Kaycee C Rice

I don't read the rest, sitting back and turning my head. If only I could have changed her last name. I would have, I know it.

My hands shake, everything shakes. The tears that threatened earlier now flood my vision, no longer able to be contained.

I look to the sky as it slowly darkens, signaling for rain soon.

I look down, tears spreading over my cheeks and lips.

"I miss you," my voice sounds small, sad, and thick with grief. I can taste the salt of my tears.

"I'm so sorry, Kaycee," sobs now rock my body as I bury my head in my hands.

Memories of her soft hair, shining hazel eyes, and gorgeous smile cloud my mind. My love, My light, My everything. I seem to smile to myself through my tears.

Then, more painful memories come.

Flashback

She sits in my front seat, her hand in my hair. My eyes are on the road, singing along to the radio. Her laugh erupts throughout the car, enjoying my ugly singing.

A smile comes to my lips. I look over to her as we come to a red light, tapping her nose.

I turn back to the wheel, waiting for the light to change. Still red. I tap my fingers to the beat, listening to her sing.

She suddenly stops, and then she screams. "Sean!" I turn, my blood running cold as I watch the truck slam into my car.

Flashback ends

I feel myself holding my breath as the moment plays through my head, no details forgotten.

I will always remember her ear piercing scream, and her fingers in my hair.

I stand, anger and guilt rolling through my body. I grab a fistful of my shirt, bending over slightly.

I scream.

My voice is sore when I'm finished, tears stain my face.

I whisper an "I love you," to the place she rests, feeling a sense of relief and peacefulness as I walk away.

I know I'll be back, but I still don't want to leave my love. But I have to, the graveyard gates would be closed soon.
