Chapter 2

He opened his eyes as the train began moving after the last stop it made, the jerking of the moving vehicle is what awoke him. He groggily rubbed his eyes and when he looked up he jumped when he saw two ice blue eyes starring intensely at him. He regained his breathe as he saw it was only CeCe.

“What the hell is wrong with you scaring me like that?” he asked sitting up and cracking his stiff neck.

“Who little ole me? I’m only looking at my bestie friend who’s basically kidnapping me and taking me to Florida.” She said innocently.

“It’s not kidnapping if you came willingly.” He stated he a small chuckled and rested his head on his fist looking out the window.

She stuck her tongue out at him. He ignored it and continued to stare out the window at the passing terrain.  He began thinking about meeting his mom. What would it be like? Would she welcome him with open arms? Would she turn him away? What about his father? Was he alive? Was he dead? Was he famous? Poor? Criminal? Or town hero?

He wanted the answers so bad he could taste it on his tongue. He closed his eyes and began to fall back into sleep dreaming of his parents.

He was awoken by a shaking and he opened his eyes to his panicking friend.

“Dude? What the-.” He was cut off.

“We missed our stop!”

He was out of his seat. He found the nearest attendant. “Excuse me but we missed our stop back there.” He said out of breath.

“I’m sorry sir but we can’t go back you’ll have to wait to get off at the next stop.”

“Well when’s that?” he asked

“In a day.” She smiled and walked away.

He walked back to his seat and put his head between his knees to stop the nausea.

He told her that they had to get on a different train.

“Well smart one how are we going to do that?” he shook his head.

They remained on the train all night and he racked his brain at how this would all go down. After an all nighters and CeCe continuously saying ‘I told you so’ he had enough to go insane on.

At the next stop the next morning they got off and got their stuff and walked into the station. CeCe went to go find out the next train time while he went to go get them snacks. As he walked back he saw mothers with little children holding their hands. It made him miss his mother, but he wondered which mother meant most to him now? He was so confused and didn’t know what to think.

He got back and CeCe looked worried.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

“Uh the next train to Clearwater isn’t for 2 more days.”
