"Johnny, how the hell did you find out where i live?" i nearly shrieked, the tall boy standing in the doorway of my house with a gift bag.

"snap map, duh. i came to give you a christmas present," he stood with the dumbest damn smile id ever seen in my life.

but still the cutest smile i'd ever seen in my life.

"john! i didn't even get you anything, now i feel bad," i stuck my bottom lip out, "why?"

"because we're friends, and i wanna show you how much i appreciate you," he shrugged, walking inside of my house and setting the gift on the kitchen counter.

quickly, he looked me up and down, observing my oversized hoodie, leggings, and fuzzy socks. "who's hoodie?" he asked, concerned.

i immediately realized he was making sure it wasn't keaton's (even though i'm literally dating him, wtf), and spit out, "my dad's. it's from his work." i turned around, flashing the back of it that said 'brads auto parts'.

"it looks nice," he slid the gift across the counter, towards me. "open it. hopefully you like it."

"i'm sure i'll- what the fuck," after opening the gift, my eyes widened at the item. "you payed forty dollars for a james charles palette? for me?"

"my sister told me it'd be a good idea. she said almost every girl wants it. i'm sorry, do you want me to get you something else? i can just give that to laur-" he worried, face fully red.

"no! it's perfect, i love it. i love you," i hurriedly began to correct myself, "as a friend. as a friend. but seriously, thank you johnny. i wish i would've known to get you something."

"no, really, i don't want anything. i just wanted to thank you for being such a good friend."

i sighed, "i know this is out of no where, but i really should tell you something."

"go on," he sat on my couch, i stood in front of him with the present hugged to my chest.

"okay, i was gonna keep it a secret like in those cringy movies, but that seemed a bit dumb. vienna told me to tell you she wants you back, and then told me to stay away from you."

he looked up at me, his eyes showing that he was surprised. "she wants me back? you mean like, she didn't just use me as a boy toy?"

"johnny, that's not the point-"

"vienna murphy literally likes me. wow."

"johnny-" my heart snapped in two. he cared? he wanted vienna to like her? i thought he liked me.

"i've never had a girl like me before."

my mouth dropped as he finally shut his, "last time i checked, i was a girl," i crossed my arms, the present still in my hand.

"no, no gwen. you were just saying that you liked me to-"

"i was saying the truth. i meant what i said. i like you," i managed to speak without tears falling.

"funny way of showing it," he scoffed.

"what's that supposed to mean?" and that's when the first tear fell, and there were many more to come.

his voice softened when he realized, and he refused to make eye contact. "i mean- it's just, you're dating keaton... still. i broke up with vienna to be with you."

"okay, for one. i thought you thought i didn't like you?" i said, wiping a tear with my sleeve.

"i did think you liked me, until i thought about it a little bit later. i guess," he shrugged.

"for two, i can't just drop everything right away to be with you, john. yes, i like you, and yes it's wrong for me to be dating somebody and liking someone else. just give me until winter break ends, i'll do it before then."

he picked up his small iphone SE, his hand being almost double the size of it. "that's in 6 days, are you sure?"

"wait. john, me or vienna?"

"you. any day."

"then yes, i'm sure."

i'm like super scared of what people are gonna say about this chapter so let me make a quick disclaimer so you know i'm not stupid
i know that the choices the characters are making are FUCKKNG DUMB JSJSJSJDNRNR but they are just teenagers and a lot of teenagers suck at maintaining good relationships and not a lot know the difference between "wait... something seems off. idk if this is good or toxic" & "it seems like a good idea so it must be one, right?"
