"So that's why johnny misses so many bus rides," vienna realized, pouring a handful of trail mix into her mouth. "he's in basketball. doesn't seem like the 'sporty' type. more like the annoying jackass."

"watch the language," lisa warned from the drivers seat of our bus. vee and i looked at each other, chuckling. it was just us from our group on the bus today, as keaton and alex went to basketball practice also.

"anyways," vienna rolled her eyes at the bus driver, squeezing her blonde hair between her fingertips. "do you like, have a... thing... for johnny orlando?" she said, disgust in her voice.

"what?! no. never, ick. don't even go there," i cringed, imagining doing couple-y things with johnny. his lips against mine, our hands intertwined. it sent tingles through my body- but i figured it was just the disgust talking.

"interesting. but, i was just wondering. you got a bit defensive when i was mean to him today... i just thought maybe you liked him," she smirked.

"very funny, vee. you know me, i stick to the cool, cute guys. i'd never like someone like johnny," i shook my head.

"you're right. i feel dumb now. but since we're on topic, who do you have a thing for? alex? keaton?" she wiggled her eyebrows.

"again, very funny. i don't like anybody," i lied.

"we're best friends, gwen. you can tell me. plus, you're too easy to read. you are lying," she grinned, booping my nose when she said 'you'.

i lowered my voice into a whisper, "fuck you. yeah, i guess i do... only kinda, though."

"oh yeah? who?" she raised an eyebrow, staring into my soul until i managed to push out my answer.

i hesitated to tell her. she was the queen bee of our school. if this secret got out, she could ruin my life before you could say her name. but she was my best friend, right? i could trust her with anything. "keaton's kinda cute, i guess," i shrugged, my face turning a deep shade of red.

her face fell, "keaton? that's it? keaton like, reimann? our friend, keaton?" she blinked a few times.

"what do you mean, 'that's it'? he's the only boy i know personally, with a cute face and a sense of humor. plus, he's super sweet."

"nothing," she paused for a few seconds. "but, that's just so.. easy! don't you want a challenge?"

"you say that like you can't get any boy in our school with a simple hair flip. you never have a challenge, vee," i rolled my eyes with a smile on my face.

"that's the point," she said in a 'duh' tone, swinging her backpack on her back when the bus braked at her stop.

"what's the point?" i asked as she started walking towards the front of the bus. she waved at me as she turned to the steps. "vienna!" i sighed.
