(LUCY'S POV)

The sky was blue.

The birds were chirping.

I was sitting on the soft grass, admiring the scenery in front of me. My attention was stolen by a pink-headed Dragon Slayer, his hand resting on mine.

Natsu.

My best friend.

He looked at me and smiled and I wholeheartedly returned one too. His fingers slowly intertwined with mine as we sat in the serene silence.

"Natsu."

He turned his gaze towards me and waited for me to continue. But before I could speak further, an extremely irritating noise interrupted us.

It sounded like a siren.

But it wasn't a siren.

It was a baby cry.

My eyes shot open at the sound of my new alarm, Nashi. I tried to pull my body to get up but couldn't move. Once my eyes finally started focusing on my surroundings, I noticed a very heavyweight pinning me down.

Natsu.

My best friend.

I lifted his arm that was wrapped around my waist and got off the sofa. My feet landed on a mattress on the ground where Natsu was supposedly going to sleep. I don't even know when he got on my sofa. I made my way towards the bed while rubbing my eyes followed by a yawn.

There laid, was a crying Nashi in between pillows on both her sides to prevent her from falling off the bed. I rocked her in my arms for a while until her cries slowly died.

Gosh, babies just want attention.

I went back to the sofa just to see Natsu, snoring his nose off with his hands and legs all over the place. I let out a silent sigh and lay down on the mattress below. I had zero energy to fight with a sleeping Natsu in the middle of the night and taking the risk of waking up Nashi.

I just hope he doesn't fall off the sofa and right on top of me. I don't want to die so early.

...

"My goodness, Lucy. You look terrible. Are you sick?" A concern Mira asked me while touching my forehead.

"No, not really. Just didn't get enough sleep," my eyes were barely open.

"Nashi?"

I shook my head.

"Natsu?"

I shook my head again.

"Both."

She slightly chuckled and placed my coffee in front of me, "guess that's what it's like, to take care of a child."

"Make that two, Natsu's no less than her," Gray commented while taking a seat next to me.

Mira was making a drink for Gray, when she asked without looking at me, "you're not regretting it, are you?"

Gray and I shared a glance, "what are you ta-"

"I'm talking about Nashi. You're not regretting taking her responsibility, right?"

I paused for a minute and deeply thought about it. My body turned around to see Natsu and Nashi playing with all the guild members. Their happy faces brought a smile to my face. I turned back and faced Mira.

"Not in a million years."

Her face showed a wave of relief.

"Just take a look at their faces, Mira. They all seem so alive. Nashi's brought so much happiness with herself to this Guild. Everyone loves having her around. And even if she is a little bit of hassle for me, just knowing that her presence makes so much of a difference to my family, vanishes all the regret I'd ever feel."

Gray kept his hand on my shoulder, "you're right, she really is a bundle of joy for all of us. Especially after what happened with Mi-"

But before he could finish, Mira cut in, "Gray, we don't talk about that." Her voice sounded broad and strict. Gray bit his lip and probably cursed under his breath.

"Sorry, Lucy, I-"

"It's alright, you don't have to," I pulled a fake smile. "I guess I'll just go check up on Nashi real quick."

Gray's words actually did hurt me a little. I don't blame him for anything, it's just that I was reminded of that incident again.

I miss you.

...

"Natsu. Don't. You. Dare."

"Chill out, Luce, nothing's gonna happen."

"I swear, Natsu, I'll really kill you this time."

"You worry too much, it'll be alright."

"Natsu, please be careful."

"Look at this, baby girl. Look here-look here," he was trying to show Nashi his Dragon Slayer magic by forming fire on the tip of his finger.

"D-Da," she blurted some gibberish words at his actions.

"Isn't it coo-"

"Natsu, watch out!" My eyes widened at the scene before me.

Nashi had reached for the fire and tried to grab it. My heart almost stopped beating for a minute there.

"Natsu, I told you to be careful. Why don't you ever listen to me?" My breathing was heavy as I took her from his arms. My eyes searched for any possible injuries on her but couldn't find any.

Natsu looked confused, "Lucy, you know my fire is harmless when I want it to be."

I let out a deep sigh at his words. How could I forget?

I gave him Nashi back, "I'm sorry, I panicked for no reason." I rubbed my temple in frustration.

He handed Nashi to Levy, who was sitting beside us. He kept his hand on my shoulder, "everything alright?"

I nodded my head but he wasn't convinced.

"Luce, you know you can't lie to me."

"Sorry, I guess it's just the lack of sleep that's finally getting to me."

"You should go home and rest. I'll take you back, let's go," he grabbed my arm.

"No, it's alright. I can go on my own, you stay and take care of Nashi for me. You wanted to help, right?"

"B-But-"

I kept my hand on his head to stop him from talking, "I'll be fine."

He hesitantly nodded his head. Gosh, he worries too much. I waved bye and walked out of the Guild, towards my apartment.

I'll be fine.

TO BE CONTINUED . . .
