Sophie's eyes finally opened. It felt like she'd been asleep for a hundred years.
"Oh, look! The princess is awake!" a familiar voice sneered. Gethen.
She groggily sat up, glancing around. She was locked in a stone cell, with Gethen's ice cold eyes staring at her from the outside of her cage. "The only reason you're awake is because we need..your...assistance."
"With what?" Sophie asked.
"We need you to....erm....heal someone."
"Who?"
Sophie heart pierced for the Vackers when she heard the name.
"Alvar."
FITZ POV:
It had been 2 weeks since Sophie was captured. They'd been searching every inch of the planet, checking every layer of the earth. They couldn't find her anywhere. Fitz couldn't help thinking that they were missing something, somewhere they weren't checking. And then it hit him. He whipped out his imparter and hailed Mr. Forkle. "Fitz? What is it?"
"I've thought of someplace we haven't thought to look."
"What? Where?" Mr. Forkle's dazed expression morphed into surprise and urgency.
"The sky!"
"The...sky."
"Yes! It's genius, isn't it? Nobody would think to look there, so they've been hidden and safe for who knows how long. Heck, they've probably got bases everywhere in the sky!"
"Umm...I suppose we can look. I'm assuming you want to go?"
Fitz nodded.
"Then that makes you and Grizel...we should probably bring Sandor as well....and...our Guster, to get you there....that's 4....and your sister. Bring her."
"Biana?"
"Yes, vanishing can be a very valuable asset."
"Alright, I'll go get them."
In two minutes, Fitz, Biana, Grizel, and Sandor were standing around Fitz's imparter.
"Biana, I want you to vanish the second you no longer need our Guster's winds to carry you. I don't want them to know you're there, so you can easily grab Sophie. Our Guster will stay outside, ready for a quick escape. The rest of you, you must try to find Sophie. If they catch you, make a distraction so Biana can grab Sophie. Got it?"
They all nodded, but then Fitz realized something. "Have you found it?"
"I had my Guster search the skies and she found one. We're hoping Sophie's in it."
Fitz nodded, them turned to the group. "Let's do this."
SOPHIE POV:
She gasped. "He's broken?"
"Yes, his mind broke from guilt after he sent those bombs to Japan. Silly thing, breaking your mind over humans." Gethen replied, dragging Sophie out the cage and down the hall.
"Wait, I never said I'd do it!"
"You don't have a choice!"
"Well, you can't make me enter his mind, or go through the steps of healing."
"We can if we threaten you. We've got imparters set up on your friends and new batches of deadlier soporidine ready to be poured on them, if you chose to disobey."
"Fine, I'll do it."
When they entered the room, Alvar was laying on a table. Fintan stood next to him, eyes blank. Just as Gethen promised, imparters were set up, trained on her friends and family. She just wanted to get his over with, so she plunged right in. Eventually, after lots of hard work and inflicting, she finally brought him back.
"What took you so long?" Gethen demanded.
"He had far less emotions and people he cared about. That makes it harder." Sophie replied. Gethen was about to say something else, when they heard a faint click of the door. Someone was here.
