“What do you remember?” I asked.

“Well, I remember Nick and Rick leaving, and then having you fall asleep on my shoulder. Then I saw Syd walk off to his room and then I fell asleep.”

“Okay,” I said.

There was a very long pause, Roger looked at Syd, then back at me, “You two didn’t…” he said looking back at Syd.

“Didn’t what?” Syd playfully said, wrapping his arm around my waist, I knew what he was doing, and I found it hilarious and cruel.

“Don’t play coy with me Syd, you know what I mean…” Roger said in a firm tone.

“If you’re talking about what I’m thinking about, no, we haven’t done that...” Syd trailed off.

Roger looked relieved, “Alright, I just-”

Syd cut Roger off, “We haven’t had breakfast, now have we, Meg?”

I looked at Syd and shook my head in disbelief, “No, Syd, we haven’t.” I played along. Roger had a pissed off look on his face, he squinted his eyes; I don’t think he could tell if Syd was serious or not. “Come on, babe,” Syd smoothly said, “let’s get something to eat; I’m sure you’re starving.” I tried really hard to keep a straight face. We both stood up, his arm still around me. We both walked past Roger and both tried very hard to contain our laughs. I could feel Syd’s hand slowly creep down from my waist to my butt. I shot Syd a look, and he mouthed, “Just go with it.” We went to the kitchen; he put his hands on my waist, and lifted me up so that I was now sitting on the counter. I looked around and saw that Judy was gone, thank God. “What can I get you, darling?” Syd asked playfully, Roger slowly walked down the hallway, looking a little disappointed and confused.

“It doesn’t matter to me, honey, what are you going to have?”

“Babe,” he said, smirking, “I was planning on just eating you up right here.”

I could feel my cheeks became crimson, and I tried to contain my goofy smile. Syd took a few steps forward, now becoming just inches away from my face, caressing my hair, playing with the hem of my dress with his other hand. I thought he was actually going to kiss me, but then he cracked, he started laughing, and then I busted out laughing. “I hate you both,” Roger said seriously, “you almost had me,” he stormed on the couch, “almost.”

“Ah! Lighten up, Waters.” Syd joked. I got down from the countertop, “but seriously, what would you like, Meg? A banana?”

Roger covered his head with a pillow, “Please stop…” he wined.

Syd rolled his eyes, “he’s no fun. I have cereal, do you like cornflakes?”

I nodded, Roger’s head popped up from the pillow he was hiding under, “did you say cornflakes?"

We were all gathered around Syd’s kitchen table, eating cornflakes. “I never get to eat cornflakes anymore,” Roger said between spoonfuls, “Rick locks them up.”
