Lisa and I were frozen, staring at each other in shock. Her gaze was fixed on my day old cuts and mine on the shocked look on her face. I took a deep breath, finally overcoming my shock in her sudden appearance to make a small utterance: "please don't tell anyone about this...especially my brother..."

Without answering, she closed the door and moved further into my room and closer to me. "Why...? I promise I won't tell anyone, but I want to know why."

I sighed as I walked to my closet, searching for clothes as to not look her in the eye. "I don't know...I guess it's just that I'm being forced to marry a jerk who convinced our whole school that I need plastic surgery all because my parent's don't give a rat's behind about me. Not to mention that I don't exactly have anyone I can go to that will fully understand me. Obviously I have Junhong and a few friends from school, but it's hard to talk to them about stuff like this being a girl, and my mom hates my guts, so I can't talk to her. I was just in a bad place that night and didn't have anyone I could turn to."

I pulled out a pair of leggings and a top as I began to get dressed, wincing slightly as the fabric moved over my cuts which still ached a little.

When I turned around, Lisa was sitting on my bed but slowly stood and began walking towards me

When I turned around, Lisa was sitting on my bed but slowly stood and began walking towards me. Upon reaching me, she wrapped her arms around me with a gentle squeeze. "You have a girl you can come to know. I promise. Anytime you need someone to talk to, call me and I will be at your doorstep in five minutes to take care of you, and this is not because I'm marrying your brother."

I gradually returned her hug before pulling away and sitting at my vanity to do my hair and makeup. "Do you know Junhong well, Lisa?"

"I know him well enough to know that he's a good guy. We've worked together a little bit and have gone out to lunch together before as work associates. He's really hard not to like him. You're lucky to have him as a brother, and he's lucky to have you too."

I nodded as I applied eyeliner and mascara. "He raised me more than my parents did. Dad was too busy working and Mom was too busy hating my guts to do anymore than look for potential suitors for me. All they care about is money."

"You know, my family isn't so perfect either. My dad runs around having affairs with every women with eyes and my mom is so emotionally unstable that I'm scared to tell her about his affairs." She stood behind me with her hands on the back of the chair. "We all have our problems, but once you become an adult, they won't have anymore control over you."

I stifled a laugh. "Yeah, tell that to my engagement and the people planning my wedding when I'm too young to get married."

Her smile faltered slightly. "I guess you're right in some aspects, but there is always a way around it. Junhong is already searching for that way. We were just talking about it. He's spending all of his free time trying to get you out of marrying Sangwon."

"Why does everything have to be so difficult? Most people dream of being a chaebol, but all I ever dream about is being a normal person with a normal family. Not the child of a couple that owns a multi-million company. I don't know. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have been born into one of those poor families that all work together on a farm."
