"You are a despicable woman, Mrs. Choi!" Lisa's hands were balled up into fists. "How could you say that to your daughter?! I swear that if you keep that up, I will ensure that you do not make it into the church on our wedding day! I almost want to make you leave now so you won't even help me pick the dress! Even if you didn't want another kid, you shouldn't treat her with such disrespect! Do you have any idea how it feels to a young girl to be despised even by her mother?! I would suggest playing nice unless you want to be booted from your son's wedding."
My mother and her mother were both stunned. Lisa, on the other hand, went straight back to work, looking at dresses. "Hey y/n, what do you think about this one?"
It was a sleek dress with nearly invisible sleeves.
I smiled and nodded. "I would be beautiful on you, Lisa unnie."
She smiled at my response and went into the dressing room to try it out. My mother saw that as her opportunity. She grabbed my arm and pulled me close her, whispering into my ear as her demon claws dug into my skin.
"I know what you're doing, wench. Turning people against me. I'll have you know that you will not get away with it. I. Will. Break. You."
Lisa's mother didn't seem to notice the threat. I smirked in response and whispered back. "You already have. And I've already found people ready to piece me back together. I'm not scared of you anymore. Bring it, old hag."
We made the tension disappear immediately when Lisa came out. Lisa's mom made the first remark. "Lisa, honey, you look beautiful."
Lisa thanked her mom and turned to me. "Y/N? Thoughts? Is this the one?"
I nodded. "I think you look too good to be marrying my brother. He'll love it."
Lisa smiled and told the employee that she'd take it. "Y/N-ah, I forgot to ask you. I want you to be my maid of honor."
I froze in shock. "Me? I thought you would've picked Jennie to be your maid of honor."
She shook her head. "She is a bridesmaid, but I want my sister-in-law to be my maid of honor. Will you?"
I nodded, sneaking a peek at my mom who clearly wanted to say something. "I would be honored to, but only if you will be my maid of honor when I get married."
A week later, I was dressed in my bridesmaid dress waiting to walk down the aisle. I was honestly really excited. Junhong had picked Hyunjin as his best man early on, which meant I'd be walking down the aisle with him after the wedding. I was also slightly nervous due to my mother's presence. She's been okay the past week only because we were almost always with Lisa, but I couldn't shake the feeling that she was planning something.
The wedding, naturally, was beautiful. Lisa was beautiful. Everything was beautiful. The moment we started walking back down the aisle and Hyunjin hooked his arm with mine was beautiful. I almost felt guilty knowing that Felix was there and fully aware that I was walking down the aisle with another guy. I kept thinking back to what Hohyeon told me that he had said: he wasn't completely sure that he was in love with me, but he was pretty sure he was. That made the whole Hyunjin thing make me feel a bit more guilty. I don't want to hurt him, but I also can't help that I'm in love with another man. (I know) You know? (Lee Know. Sorry. Nana is lame.) I was happy that he was a groomsman though. He was walking with my cousin, Choi Nana. (Thought you could escape me in this book? Haha! Wrong!) They honestly looked really good together...Maybe I could set him up with her...What am I thinking? There's no way I could set up my fiancé with my cousin. Hohyeon, though? He definitely could. He was pretty close to Nana too. He was closer to her than I was. This—This could work.
