"I want you to come with me to Switzerland."

"To Switzerland? You mean, in your family's ranch?" You gulped. Mick and you had been dating for quite some time now. You were an intern in engineering at Prema, his team. That's where you two met and it was love at first sight. You had already met his mother Corinna when she came to a race. You also heard a lot about his sister and you were introduced to her via Skype. But going to his family house meant meeting his father, Michael Schumacher, the driver who made you love Formula 1.

"Yes. My mum can't stop asking me to bring you over, and Gina also wants to see you. Dad too."

You were hesitant. You didn't want to intrude his family time. And, you had to admit, you were scared like hell to meet your idol. Mick had told you many things about him already, as well as his condition. He was in a wheelchair but he could talk.

"I really don't want to intrude."

"You won't! They all want to see you. It'll be great, I promise. I could really use some time with my loved ones. And you're one of them now." How could you not agree after such sweet words? You nodded, receiving a strong hug from Mick. It meant a lot to him that you met his family.

"So nice to finally see you! You're even prettier in real life." Gina was a chatty blond girl, fan of horses. She's the one who opened the house. You had your luggage in your hand even though Mick kept asking if you needed help. "Leave the poor girl alone, Mick!"

"Always a delight to see you, Gi!" Mick teased his sister before giving her a hug. They looked so much alike, it was quite confusing! Mick showed you rapidly around the house and left both of your luggages in his old room. You couldn't help but look at the pictures on his wall. Many were of him and his father, either on a Formula 1 circuit or in karting. There were pictures of him as a kid and a young teenager, but then the photos stopped. The accident.

"Mum and Dad just arrived, they went looking at the horses in the ranch. You ready?" You nodded hesitantly and linked your fingers to Mick's. He grabbed his Formula 3 trophy, excited to show it to his father. It was the first time he would see him since his title.

You walked down the stairs, making sure Mick was always ahead of you. Yes, you were shamelessly hiding behind your boyfriend. Once you reached down the stairs, you came face to face with Corinna, wearing a bright smile, and a man on a wheelchair. You could have recognized him anywhere, he was the exact same you used to watch on TV when you were a child. You didn't understand anything about Formula 1 back then, but you were cheering for the red car that was always first.

"Mum!" Mick exclaimed and hugged his mother before she did the same with me.

"I see Mick finally found a way to make you come over! It's nice to see you again, honey." Corinna was such a sweet woman.

"Dad, I want to introduce you to Y/N, my girlfriend. Remember, I told you about her. She's the crazy intelligent engineer at Prema."

"I also remember you saying she was crazy beautiful. You were right on that." His words were a bit jolting, but he was talking. You felt yourself blush at the compliment.

"It's nice to meet you, M.Schumacher."

"Please, Michael!"

"She's a bit starstruck, she's a big fan of yours Dad." Mick let this slip out of his mouth.

"Really?"

"Yeah... You were the first driver I supported when I started watching Formula 1 as a kid." You blushed, again. From the corner of your eye, you saw Corinna and Gina looking at you tenderly.

"So Dad, there's something else I wanted to show you!" Mick handed his dad the big trophy he won when he became champion of Formula 3. "Also, you guys are the first one to know, I learnt about it this morning, I'll be driving for Prema in Formula 2 next year."

His mother and sister were crying of joy. It didn't came as a big surprise, but still. Mick linked his fingers through yours again and looked at you lovingly before leaving a small peck on your lips. You would still be together next year, just a step higher. You turned your head away when you heard sobs. Michael Schumacher was crying.

"I'm so proud of you, mein Sohn. You know, the trophies, racing, it's all good. But love, love is what makes life worth living. I wouldn't be anywhere right now without your mother, your sister and you. You made it all worth it. Please, Mick, never put your career before your family. This young woman you have here is a jewel and you should cherish her for the rest of your life."
