"Come on baby, we're going to see daddy."
Your son smiled and clapped excitedly. It was the first time he would see a race. Your boyfriend and you didn't want him in the paddocks until now. This place was always crowded, there were cameras everywhere, and you were always afraid of an incident that would probably traumatise him. You still came to as many races as you could but your son stayed with yours or Charles' parents.
In Brazil, two weeks ago, Charles became world champion. It was a dream come true for him and you couldn't be happier. That's why you decided to surprise him with your son, Jules, for the last race in Abu Dhabi. Jules was 3 years old now, he knew his father was driving racing cars and he loved to watch the races on TV. You thought now was the time to bring him to one.
You took your son in your arms, grabbed your purse and the bag with Jules' stuff and entered the paddock. Cameras and photographers were all around you. They knew who you were and they knew Charles and you had a son but you kept him protected, never posting pictures of his face on the social media. This was his first public appearance and everyone wanted a picture of the new champion's son, named after a fellow F1 driver who past away a few years ago.
You tried to hide Jules' face from the flashes. Journalists kept a reasonable distance but it was still overwhelming for a little boy. Surprisingly, he didn't seem afraid at all. He smiled at the camera and waved shyly before hiding his face in your neck.
You entered the Ferrari motorhome and put Jules on his feet, holding his hand. He already went to the Ferrari factory with his father so he knew most of Ferrari employees.
"Y/N it's so good to see you!" Britta, Sebastian Vettel's press officer hugged you before leaving a kiss on your son's head. You always liked Britta.
"Well well, hello Leclerc family!" Seb's voice rang in your ears. He took Jules into his arms, the little boy laughing. Seb was good with kids, having two himself. Jules liked him a lot. "Charles didn't tell me you were coming." He said after kissing your cheeks.
"He doesn't know. Jules wanted to see a race and I thought it was time."
"Uncle Sebbi, can you let my daddy win?" Jules asked while pulling on Sebastian's hair.
"Believe me, your daddy doesn't need me to let him win, he does it very well by himself!" Seb chuckled.
"Come on Jules, you have to let uncle Seb go to his car."
"Good luck uncle Sebbi!" Jules hugged Sebastian one last time before the driver put him back on the ground and ran to his garage. Britta left too and you took Jules' hand to get out of the red motorhome.
In the paddock, you ran into Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly, both friends of Charles. You took some time to discuss with Caterina, Pierre's girlfriend, until Jules started to pull on your hand impatiently because he heard the sound of the cars going onto the track. FP1 had just begun.
You waved Caterina goodbye and headed to the Ferrari garage. Charles' car was already on the track for a few turns of recognition. The mechanics and engineers greeted you happily, as did Maurizio Arrivabene. Ferrari truly was a huge family, you always felt welcome there. They all seemed happy to see you and Jules, who was going from arms to arms.
You sat in the back of the garage with Jules, putting some earmuffs on his ears and yours. The car entered the garage again after the pit-crew changed the tyres. Charles' head engineer showed him data that he read carefully. He didn't see you yet. Jules's mouth opened in an o-shape when his father's car left the garage again.
"Daddy is fast!" He said as he watched the car on the screen next to you. He was fast, indeed.
"Yes, he is. Your daddy is like a superhero. What's his name, the one who goes really fast?" You asked your son.
"Flash! Oh, and they are both red too!" Jules' eyes were glowing in excitement and you thought you made the right choice bringing him here.
Charles' car came in and left again a couple of times before definitely staying in the garage, 15 minutes before the end of the session. Jules kept staring at the car on the screen or the mechanics working without saying anything, but you could see in his eyes he was marvelled.
Charles stepped out of the car, taking his helmet and balaclava out and taking a sip of the drink his engineer handed him. It was hot here in Abu Dhabi and you could only guess how much hotter it was inside the car.
You took the earmuffs out of yours and Jules' ears and put him down, only for him to run to his father, holding onto his leg.
"Daddy!" He shouted through the garage, earning the glare of every team member who were holding a smile.
Charles turned his head, surprised to hear his son's voice. Once he spotted his brown haired head next to him, he took him in his arms, gently ruffling his hair.
"Hi baby. Where's mummy?" Charles asked, his eyes looking around to spot you. He couldn't believe you made him that surprise. Truth is, he was happier than ever to see his son in his garage, welcoming him out of the car.
Jules pointed his finger to you as you smiled and came closer to your boyfriend.
"Have I ever told you I loved you?" Charles asked you, his eyes glowing with pride.
"You have. But you can say it again, it's never enough."
"I love you, Y/N." You smiled intensely before he leaned in to kiss your lips tenderly.
"Yuk, stop kissing my mummy!" Jules pushed Charles' face away from yours, both of you chuckling at your son's intervention. If only he knew...
"Crapule." Charles said as he tickled Jules' side who filled the garage with his high-pitched laugh.
"You know, you're like The Flash, cause you're really fast and you're all red!" Jules exclaimed once he caught his breath.
"Oh, am I, now? Is he good, this Flash guy?"
"He's the best! And you are the best too daddy, because you're the champion. But if you are The Flash, does that mean I'm Kid Flash?" Jules' eyes widened at his sudden thought.
"Of course you are! There's something missing though." Charles stepped away to the back of the garage where his red #16 cap was ready for him to put on. He took it and put it on your son's head. Of course, the cap was way too big for him and it felt on his eyes, but he didn't seem to mind.
"There you go, Kid Flash!"
Charles raised his hand for Jules to clap into it with his small one, laughing once again. You couldn't erase the smile stuck on your face at the sweetness of the image of your perfect little family.
