Mister Indigo

"Excuse me?" He asks.

I try to ignore his astonishingly beautiful face and form a coherent sentence. Why am I acting like this? I never do this! Honestly, I can usually speak around anyone no matter how attractive they are. What is this guy doing to me?

"I said I'm you're 3:00. We have a meeting? And it should've started twenty minutes ago," I remind him, a little more confident now.

He crinkles his eyebrows and moves to his desk. He takes a look at a piece of paper, his schedule I assume, and then looks back up to me. "I believe I'm supposed to be meeting with the CEO of Indigo and Associates. Did he send you instead?"

Excuse me? This time I crinkle my eyebrows. "No? Who were you expecting?"

"Charles Indigo? It's his company isn't it? And I don't really appreciate the fact that he couldn't take the time to come himself and sent some girl instead. So, let him know that until he can make his way down here the deal is off."

Is this guy serious? "Are you serious right now?" I had to ask.

"Do I look anything less than serious?"

I stare at him for a moment, pondering whether or not I should comment on his stupidity or his misogyny. "Well, I'm pretty sure Charles isn't going to be getting down here anytime soon." I cross my arms at him. How does he not know?

"And why is that?"

I give him a look, obviously insinuating that he's an idiot. "Because he's dead. And he has been for a while now. So, if you want to whip out a Ouija board and have your meeting that way, go right on ahead. But, if you can get over the fact that the new CEO is a woman," I point to myself, " then we can finish this up and get on with our lives."

He scoffs at me and gestures to the seat in front of his desk. He walks around to the back and sits in his own chair, organizing some files. "Let's start with your name."

"Scarlett Indigo. And you're Asher Black. I had the decency and the intelligence to at least figure out who I'm talking to before I got here." I lean back in my chair, arms still crossed. I am not having it with this man, no matter how hot he is.

"Oh, Indigo...you're his-"

"Daughter, yes. Now that that's done, let's talk about what we came here for."

I pull out all of the information we need to go over and he nods then does the same. We talk, argue really, for about two hours over the original merger that our father's had previously written up. Eventually we come to a new agreement that equally benefits both of our us, our employees, and our clients at the state our companies are in now.

We both sign all of the necessary documents and finally drop our pens. He groans and falls back in his chair. His head falls back, exposing the smooth skin on his tanned neck. Oh boy. Okay, settle down Indigo, it's just a neck!

He leans up and rubs his face, blinking those mesmerizing eyes. "Well, I'll give you one thing; you definitely know what you're talking about. But, your ass is stubborn. That was like pulling teeth."

I laugh and shake my head at him. "Well, better get used to it buddy. You just signed up for at least five years of working side by side with the dentist from hell." I give him a gleaming smile and wink before getting up and grabbing my stuff. When I realize what time it is I start moving a little quicker. Violet must be freaking out by now, this shouldn't have lasted more than an hour tops.

"Woah, where's the fire, Indigo?" He asks, following me to the door.

"What, were you really enjoying my presence that much?" I spin around to look at him, and almost choke when I see how close he's standing. He must be about a foot away from me. I hope he can't hear my heart rapidly trying to pound its way out of my chest, because I sure can. "If you must know, my assistant has been waiting outside this whole time. I really didn't think it would be this long and I don't want to worry her."

He nods and takes another step towards me, nearly closing the gap between us with his long stride. Asher then reaches his arm out, lightly brushing against my shoulder, and opens the door. I've said it before, but I'll say it again. Oh boy. He gestures toward the hallway and I smile then make a hasty exit. He follows, hot on my heels.

As soon as we're in the hallway Vi shoots out of her chair and runs up to me. Somehow she fails to notice the attractive, looming figure standing behind me and immediately grabs my briefcase. "How was it?" She asks.

I open my mouth to respond but he beats me to it. "Just fantastic. I can't wait to be working with Miss Indigo." He smirks at me, then turns back to Violet with an outstretched hand. "And you must be Violet, yes?"

She is staring wide-eyed at my new, frustratingly handsome and annoying business partner. She finally reaches out to shake his hand. "Yes, Violet Lansing. Nice to meet you," she says.

He smiles then puts his hands in his pockets while backing into his office. "Have a nice day, you two. I'll be seeing you soon," he says. He then shuts his door, leaving us alone gaping at each other in the hallway.

"Oh my God!" Violet whispers to me.

"I know! Really wish I would have known it was him before I went in there!"

"That was the hot guy from the-"

"Cafe! I know!"

"What's he like?" She grabs my arm and we head over to the elevator.

As soon as it dings we hop in and I turn to her. "He's kind of a douche," I say.

"What? Why!"

"Well to start he made us wait. Then when I got in there he pull the same little stunt Merry at the front desk did, just ignoring my presence. Then he asked who I was and what I was doing there, and refused to speak to anyone but my father. Eventually I got around to telling him that he obviously can't talk to my dad, and that I'm the CEO so he'll just have to deal with me or he's out of luck. Then when we finally sat down to have the actual meeting all we did was bicker for two straight hours until we came up with something where we wouldn't have to merge buildings and see each other every day. But, on the bright side it's a very good deal and we only have to meet two or three times a week to work things over. Most of everything else can be done over the phone. If we can deal with each other like he adults we are then this will work out great for the company. I mean, the only problem is that he's such a stubborn ass. Oh yeah, and he called me a stubborn ass."

Vi stared at me with her jaw scraping the ground. "Seriously? No wonder it took you guys so long to come to a conclusion. You're like children," she laughs as we exit the building.

I roll my eyes at her and make my way to the car. I can't believe I now share a business with the man I literally spilled coke on and ran away from a week ago. I also can't believe he acts like an overgrown teenager.

All I have to do is establish a no nonsense work environment, right off the bat. If we just get our work done and be around one another as little as possible, this will work out fine. I can't spend all of my time squabbling with him, but it's already proving really hard not to. He's heavily opinionated and seems to be focused on the exact opposite of what I am. We've only talked for two hours and it's like it's already his goal to go against literally anything I say. I sigh, and lean my head against the window. Why are all the hot guys jerks?
