Charms

Today is Halloween, which was exciting because at home me and Harry weren't allowed to do anything. I was headed to Professor Flitwick's classroom for charms with Hermione. She was telling me about how the Hogwarts' founders used to be friends, until the founder of the Slytherin house, Salazar Slytherin, suggested that only pure-bloods should be able to join Hogwarts. When the rest of the founders didn't agree, he got angry and left.

It was actually pretty interesting, and by the time Hermione had finished, we were at Professor Flitwick's class. I looked and noticed Harry and Ron weren't there yet. I walked to sit in the front of her class with Hermione, who was on my left. There was a seat on my right that Harry took when he walked in, leaving Ron to sit on Hermione's left.

Once the bell rang, Professor Flitwick entered and class begun.

"Today, class, we will be learning how to do a simple levitating spell. You all have your feathers, yes?" Hermione held hers up as a way of answering him. "Right. And remember the motion! Repeat after me, swish-and-flick," he said, reenacting it.

"Swish-and-flick," the class followed his lead, but I wasn't really paying attention. I already knew the spell.

"Good! Now the spell is 'Wingardium Leviosa'. Go on, try it out!" the professor exclaimed and watched us from his high stack of books.

Harry was already having trouble, and we were only 5 seconds in, literally. I hadn't even gotten a chance to show off in front of everybody.

"Need some help?" I asked, smirking.

He rolled his eyes, "Don't worry, I'll find out eventually."

I knew what he said was true, but it would be so much faster if he just allowed me to help him!

"No, stop, stop, stop. You're going to take someone's eyes out, waving your wand like that. And besides, your saying it wrong. It's leviOsa, not levioSA," a very frantic Hermione exclaimed as she watched with wide eyes, giving helpful pointers to teach Ron.

"Well, then, if you think you know what you're doing, why don't you give it a go?" Ron said back, angry.

"Yeah, (Y/n)! Go on, try it as well!" Harry exclaimed.

I turned to Hermione, "Ready?"

"Course," she replied.

"Wingardium Leviosa," we chanted at the same time.

They both started floating up and up until I was startled out of my trance.

"Well done, Ms. Potter and Ms. Granger, for being the first to complete the assignment. 10 points each to Gryffindor!" Professor Flitwick exclaimed as I smiled and high fived Hermione.

"Teach me how to do that!" Harry exclaimed and I laughed.

"Wingardium Levio-" an explosion was heard from next to Harry.

We looked over and I had to refrain myself from laughing.

"I think we might need a new feather over here, Professor," Harry said slowly as he stared at the charred desk.

Poor Seamus. He looked completely fried. I'm sure his eyebrows will grow back in a week, tops, though!

I had lost Hermione after charms and even though I looked, I couldn't find her, so I decided to just walk with Ron and Harry instead.

"I mean, can you believe her?" I was tuning out the conversation but was brought back to reality with that comment. Believe who?

I narrowed my eyes at Ron in warning, but he didn't notice, of course. He's always so dim-witted

"I mean, she can't get more annoying! And why is (Y/n) hanging out with her, anyways?" was he talking about Hermione? I glared.
