Chapter 5 Bloody Mary

'Sam, wake up,' Sam wakes up, confused. He sits up and looks around. He's sitting shotgun in the Impala, which is parked in front of a large building. Hermione sits behind him looking out the window and Dean looks at him. 'Welcome to Toledo, Ohio,' Dean tells Sam. Sam picks up the newspaper with Steven Shoemaker's obituary circled and reads: The shoemaker family is sad to announce the sudden death of their beloved husband and father Steven Shoemaker. Steven was 46. A short service will be held on Wednesday 31 at 2:00 p.m. at the Toledo.

'So what do you think really happened to this guy?' Sam asks to Dean.

'That's what we're going to find out.' 'Let's go,' Dean, Sam and Hermione get out of the car and head up to the building. The trio head into the hospital and walk into room 144, marked morgue. There are two desks. The empty one has a nameplate that says Dr. D. Feiklowicz. The other one has the Morgue technician.

'Hey,' the morgue tech spoke to them.

'Hey,' Dean responded.

'Can I help you?' the morgue tech asks looking confused to Sam, Dean and Hermione.

'Yeah. We're the, uh... med students,' Dean lied.

'Sorry?'

'Oh, Doctor-' Dean stumbles over the name. '-Figlavitch didn't tell you?' He asks the morgue tech. 'We talked to him on the phone. He, uh, we're from Ohio State,' Dean went on. ' He's supposed to show us the Shoemaker corpse. It's for our paper,'

'Well, I'm sorry, he's at lunch,' the morgue tech apologizes.

'Oh well he said, uh-,' Dean tried to think of something but he gave up, '-oh, well, you know, it doesn't matter. You don't mind just showing us the body, do you?' Dean asks.

'Sorry, I can't,' the morgue tech answers. 'Doc will be back in an hour. You can wait for him if you want,'  Dean panicked a little but kept it cool.

'An hour? Ooh. We got to be heading back to Columbus by then,' Dean looks at Sam who nods and mouths ''Yeah''. 'Uh, look, man, this paper's like half our grade, so if you don't mind helping us out-,'

'Uh, look, man...no,' the morgue tech answers. Dean laughs a little but look like he could kill him. He turns around.

'I'm going to hit him in his face I swear,' Dean mumbles to Hermione who grins at him. But Sam heard it too. He hits Dean on the arm and steps in front of Dean. Sam opens his wallet and pulls out some twenties. He lays a few of them, at least five, down on the morgue tech's desk. The morgue tech picks up the money.

'Follow me,' He tells the trio. The morgue tech gets up and leaves. Dean grabs Sam when Sam tries to follow. Hermione follows the morgue tech when she's at the door she noticed that Sam and Dean weren't following her or the morgue tech and stops.

'Dude, I earned that money,' Dean told Sam. When Hermione heard that she rolled her eyes. Dean only didn't earn it he won it at a poker game.

'You won it in a poker game,' Sam points out. 

'Yeah,' That's all Dean said. Sam walks away from Dean and follows the morgue tech.

The trio and the morgue tech are at the morgue.

'Now the newspaper said his daughter found him. She said his eyes were bleeding,' Sam points out. The morgue tech pulls back the sheet over Steven's face.

'More than that. They practically liquefied,' the morgue tech answers.

'Any sign of a struggle? Maybe somebody did it to him?' Dean asks.

'Nope. Besides the daughter, he was all alone,' the morgue tech answers. Hermione pulled out a notebook and made notes just like she did when they were working on the plane chase.
