Chapter 7: Robbers

Jeremiah stood up looking at her. “Franchesca…”

Franchesca ran and hugged him. Jeremiah was still in shock, even I was. No one really knew when she was coming back-or if she was.

Franchesca was Jeremiah’s first actual girlfriend, as far as I know. They were one of those famous perfect couple of the school and they dated for about a year and a half. They loved each other a lot but she had to move to Michigan. She broke up with him but they both still loved each other. She never said when she was returning so we just assumed she’s never coming back. It’s been a year since she’s been gone. Jeremiah was devastated when she left. That’s when he started dating a lot of girls for a short period of time and became a jerk. She was still the same girl but she looked prettier with her long dark hair and her pale skin.

“How have you been?” Franchesca asked after she hugged Jeremiah, who still looked flustered.

“uhhh… I’m alright.”

“That’s great.” Franchesca replied then finally sees me. “Oh my god… KAYLA?!”

She looked so shocked then gave me a bear hug. “I”VE MISSED YOU SO MUCHHH!!”

“I missed you too,” I said giggling.

Jeremiah laughed and shook his head. I rolled my eyes at him. Franchesca was my best friend. She was one of those people that you just can’t say no to. She made everyone smile with her own smile. She rarely got annoyed or angry. After she left to Michigan, we barely talked. Its either she’s too busy or I was. Eventually, we stopped talking to each other. We would say ‘Hi’ or ‘Hey’ to each other once in a while on Facebook but we never actually had a proper conversation. Now that she’s here, I must admit that I missed her, lots.

“I didn’t even recognize you! You look way prettier than the last time I saw you!” she exclaimed giving me her signature smile. “You look really pretty without those nerdy glasses you had when we were freshmen. I mean you looked pretty but you look prettier now.”

“Okay, Cheska. Stop with the compliments.” I laughed. “When did you arrive here?”

“Two days ago. I just came here to pick up some books. Staying at home by myself sucks.”

“And you didn’t tell any of us?” Jeremiah said suddenly. Francheska looked flushed.

“Well… I didn’t really have time but I was planning to message Kayla.”

“It’s fine.” I said glaring at Jeremiah who gave me a ‘What?’ expression.

Jeremiah’s phone rung. He took it out of his pockets and answered it.

“Yo! Yeah… uhhh… I’m with Kayla here at Barnes and Nobles. Just drinking coffee, ” Jeremiah scoffed. “No! What the f*ck. Yeah. Yeah. We’re going.”

He put his phone back to his pocket as Francheska and I looked at him curiously.

“Well, they want us to meet them at the candy shop.” He said as he looked from me to Francheska.

“Oh. Well… I also have to go. I’ll see you guys soon,” Francheska replied hurriedly. She hugged both of us and went on her way.

When we arrived at the candy shop, Andrew was already eating some gummy bears. I went up to him and asked him for some, which means one in his vocabulary.

“So were going hiking tomorrow,” Andrew whispered. The weird thing about him was that he hated exercising but he still had a good build.  

“What?”

“I said were going hiking!!!!” Andrew stuffed about 4 gummy bears in his mouth. “Tristan asked us to go with them to hike at Griffith Park. They all said yes.”

“Then why are you going?”

“Well… Alliah bribed me with some gummy bears. And I don’t want to be the only one missing out,” he said. I was about to say something when Jeremiah called me over.

“Hey… umm… so we have this thing tomorrow. Everyone is going and I wanted to ask you personally,” he said. “I was wondering if you wanna go hiking with us tomorrow morning at Griffith Park.”

I looked at him. His eyes were focused on mine. “Yeah, that’ll be cool”

He smiled. The kind that reaches your ears. “Cool”

One of those chapters that aren't good but I'll try to make the next one much more interesting.
