He knew he was going.
Going to die, that is.
He tried to get a grip, to hold on to his life. He was strong enough, but he couldn't hold on for long.
"Mister Stark?" he cried out when he felt himself slipping away. "I don't feel so good."
He watched the pure horror on the older man's face as he stumbled towards him, the older man not moving, frozen, paralyzed with fear.
"You'll be alright," his mentor said, but they both knew this wasn't true.
The boy himself was terrified. "I don't - I don't know what's happening, I don't -" he stumbled over his words as he stumbled towards the billionaire.
He fell into Mr. Stark's arms as he spoke, losing his hold on his life.
"I don't want to go! I don't want to go! Sir, please, I don't want to go! Please, I don't want to go!" The fifteen-year-old shouted, sobbing, the man holding him laying the boy on the ground.
The boy was slipping away. He couldn't hold on. This was the end.
"I'm sorry," he whispered, tears streaming down his face. He had never seen such fear and sadness on the face of the great Tony Stark, and it was the last thing he saw as he turned to dust, his head cradled in Tony's hands.
Everything went black.
But suddenly there was light. White, bright light.
Peter Parker sat up, knowing he was dead, but wondering where he was. He looked around him, wet drops still pouring from his eyes.
He saw a figure. He recognized this man as the one who shared his name. The man who shared Peter's name smiled and sang a familiar tune, tapping his foot to the beat.
"Another one bites the dust," Peter Quill sang softly.
Peter Parker wiped his eyes and looked farther to see more familiar faces: Gamora, Doctor Strange, Drax, Groot, Bucky, T'challa, Sam, Mantis, and Wanda. They all looked happy but sad and concerned at the same time. He smiled a little.
"Another one bites the dust." This time Doctor Strange and Gamora joined Peter Quill in the song. Gamora had tears in her eyes, as did Wanda and Doctor Strange.
"And another one gone and another one gone," Peter Parker sang, trying to hold back the tears he held in his eyes.
"And another one bites the dust!" Everyone joined in this time.
"Hey!" The Peters shouted.
"He went and got you too," Peter Quill changed the lyrics a bit.
"Another one bites the dust!" Everyone sang.
Peter Parker smiled, but then began to sob. It was just too much. He couldn't take it. Gamora sat down and pulled the boy into a hug.
Neither of them said anything Gamora just held Peter close. She was crying too.
Then Peter Quill sat and held Gamora and Peter, the both of them sobbing, Quill with a tear rolling down his cheek. Everyone sat and hugged each other, one by one.
Peter just cried harder. He didn't care what they thought of him anymore - if they thought he was weak or strong, a fighter or a coward. He was scared and sad and everything else, and couldn't take it. It broke everyone's heart to see a child in such pain.
Eventually, they all got up. Drax sat silently with Mantis in a far off spot. Wanda was silently sobbing, her head in Sam's shoulder, Sam rubbing her back with tears on his face as well. T'challa and Bucky were sitting together in silence. Peter Quill was holding Gamora as she bawled. He was crying too.
Peter Parker sat in the middle, knees tucked up, Peter hugging his knees close and crying his eyes out. Stephen Strange approached the young Peter and sat next to him. The Cloak of Levitation almost instantly picked itself up off the sorcerer and landed on Peter, giving him a warm squeeze and wiping the tears away with it's fabric. The doctor put his hand on Peter's back, but after a minute or so changed his mind and pulled the young superhero closer, into a hug. The Cloak changed its position to wrap around the both of them.
Groot appeared from who knows where, but Peter didn't care. He loved Groot. He brought his head out of Strange's shoulder to look at Groot, a slight smile on his face. Groot reached his hands out and appeared to be concentrating hard on something. Out of Groot's hands, a flower began to bloom. The flower was blue with hints of pink and purple, and it almost appeared to be glowing.
"I am Groot," Groot said lovingly, kneeling down to show Peter the flower.
Peter broke free of the Cloak and threw himself onto Groot. Groot cradled the child with his branches as he cried himself to sleep.
Gamora, Peter Quill, Mantis, and Drax all sat by Groot. "I am Groot?" Groot inquired softly, as not to wake the sleeping Peter.
Peter Quill looked at Groot. "I don't know," he said sadly.
Groot showed his flower to Gamora. She smiled and cupped the flower in her hands. "Thank you, Groot."
Groot smiled and nodded, then looked back at the sleeping Peter, tears still staining his cheeks.
Little did they know that somewhere, a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist had cried himself to sleep as well.
A/N: I'm sorry! I have created a tear-jerker, an Ultron of sob stories you could say, and for that I apologise. I cried writing this, so I really do understand what a monster I created.
This was not all my idea! The main plot of this short was taken from a Tumblr post. Here it is:
Thanks officialheroesofolympus for coming up with that.
I have come to the realization that this is probably really bad and not accurate to the characters at all, so sorry I guess.
Comment, vote for more, and leave suggestions! I would love to write a concept someone comes up with.
