Today was the day. Blake and Kat would get married in a matter of hours.Rebecca and I quickly got changed before helping the kids into their clothes.
"This is gonna be so fun." Rebecca said as she did Anna's hair.
"Tell me about it." I replied as I helped tie Max's bow-tie.
"Wow, are you actually excited for a party?" Rebecca asked with a chuckle.
I shrugged. "What can I say, I'm starting to enjoy them."
"Well, I'm glad we were finally able to break through that icy, party-less exterior and get to the warm, party girl center."
I gave her a playful nudge. "Oh, give it a rest."
She laughed as she fluffed up Anna's hair a little. "How does she look?"
I glanced at her and smiled. "She looks beautiful."
Anna smiled. "Thanks, mommy."
"Anytime, kiddo."
"How's Max coming along?" Rebecca asked.
I glanced at the untied bow-tie. "Very handsome, but I forgot I don't know how to tie a bow-tie."
Rebecca laughed as she walked over to us. "I'll do it, just go get Anna into her shoes."
I gave her a salute. "Aye, aye."
She nudged me with a smile. "Get going."
After getting the kids ready, we met Wendy and Jen at their house.
"C'mon in, guys." Wendy said.
We walked in as Jen came walking down the stairs.
"Don't you guys look great." Jen said with a smile.
"Well, thank you, Jen." I replied.
She rolled her eyes and smiled. "Not you. I meant these two cuties."
Rebecca laughed and I sighed. "Yeah, yeah, what do you say, kids?"
"Thanks, aunt Jen." They said in unison.
"So, when are we supposed to be there?" Rebecca asked.
Wendy checked the time on her phone. "Pretty soon, we should get going."
"Alright, we'll see you there." I said as I led Rebecca and the kids out to the car...
After a short drive, we pulled into the parking lot of the wedding hall.
We got out and bumped into Stephanie and Billy in the parking lot.
"Hey, guys, glad you could make it." Rebecca said.
"Hi, aunt Stephanie." Anna said.
"And uncle Billy." Max added.
Billy knelt down and gave them each a fist bump. "How are my favorite kids doing?"
While they chatted, Beth and Kris walked up. They didn't look to thrilled.
"What's up with you two?" I asked.
"Nothing." Beth replied.
"Nothing? I only asked one thing of you today. Do you remember what that was?"
Beth rolled her eyes. "To get a fancy bottle of champagne, which I did."
Kris rolled her eyes this time. "Yeah, then you drank it."
