Chapter One

Claire's POV

"Can I borrow your boyfriend?"

Nina choked on her beverage while Nick spit his out back in his red foam cup. They didn't expect me to ask that and I don't blame them. The words just came out of my mouth. Haha.

Nick wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and Nina widened her eyes at me asking "W-What did you say? Did I hear you correctly?"

"Do you want me to repeat it?" I asked.

"Please." demanded Nick, still trying to wreck his brain around what I had asked and probably wondering if I was intoxicated.

"I want you to borrow Nick to me. I have this amazing plan and I need Nick for it."

"Nick is not an object!" scolded Nina, "You can't just borrow someone especially not a boyfriend."

"What's the plan?" asked Nick, gaining different looks from Nina and I.

I gave him an amazed look while Nina gave him a "What the hell?" glare.

He shrugged. "Let's hear your plan."

Was he actually up for it? I smiled internally at the thought.

I looked to Nina for approval, she rolled her eyes then nodded.

"Since Nick is a QC prince, he'll help get me some popularity and they might ask me to join their squad. He'll just have to pretend to be my boyfriend until then. As soon as I'm officially a QC with a title then he'll break up with me. Because I'll have a title, they won't be able to remove me from the squad."

"Why don't you just petition?" asked Nick like it was the easiest thing in the world.

"Petitions take longer. Look at Bianca, she petitioned and it took three years for her to finally become an official member." I answered confidently.

"Why can't you use some other guy? Like Phat or Farrell? Or Kieran?" asked Nina, she seemed to be second guessing this.

"They'll demand her to be their sex slave and you know how much Claire values her innocence." said Nick. I had a feeling he was low-key mocking me valuing my innocence, but I paid no attention to it. I can't fight with him now when I need his help.

"Plus, not a lot of people know that you're dating Nick. Your relationship is only a few weeks old." I said.

"Two months." emphasised Nina while folding her arms.

Is she really going to act like a baby now? She always acted that way to get her way. Believe it or not, she stole my adorable toddler reaction.

"Puh-lease." I begged. I need this opportunity.

"I'll let Nina decide on my part," said Nick, going with a smart choice. "Meanwhile, would you two like a new drink?"

"Water." I said.

"Anything you're getting." said Nina with a smile.

Nina and I watched Nick walk over to the beverage table, greeting others as he went by. Nina put her hands on my shoulder and I shifted my gaze towards her.

"You're not fooling anyone, my dear cousin. Spill the beans." she said softly.

"There aren't any beans to spill. I want to prove a point while also getting more Instagram followers. Bianca is always bragging about her 10K followers and I want to prove to her that her increase in followers is because she's in the QC squad. And I want some popularity, to feel important."

Nina narrowed her eyes at me, I gave her a goofy smile and she smiled back.

"So?" I asked with crossed fingers.
