A pitter patter noise bounced off my window.
Yay! It's raining! I thought. I immediately threw on my raincoat and boots and skipped outside. I happily jumped and stomped in pretty much every single puddle I came across as I wandered around my neighborhood.
"Splishing splashing in the puddles on my street! Splishing splashing in the puddles what a treat!" I sang as I made my way towards the park. "I'm so wet! Dripping soaking wet! I'm as wet as any human being can get-" I stopped singing when I noticed someone sitting on a bench in the middle of the park. Yikes, my song probably sounded really wrong if he didnt hear the beginning.
I continued walking, but as I got closer to the stranger my heart practically stopped. That person sitting alone was none other than Hwang Hyunjin, and he was crying.
"Would it make me a terrible person if I just left him like that, all alone in the rain?" I whispered to myself. Debating whether or not I should go comfort him, my curiosity and worry got the best of me. I slowly approached him on the bench and sat down.
Hyunjin quickly recognized me and said, "Wow, you're really doing anything just to sit next to me huh? I really hope you aren't stalking me now." He faked a chuckle and hastily wiped at his eyes.
"Are you okay? Why are you crying?" I asked gently.
Hyunjin fiddle with his fingers for a moment before answering. "My dog, Kkami, ran away a few hours ago. I know it's silly to cry about but I'm scared that he's lost and I won't be able to find him. This is a new neighborhood for him after all."
"Silly? We have a missing puppy on the loose, this indeed is a serious matter!" I preached. "C'mon, get up. I'll help you find him," I said, grabbing his arm and forcing him to stand up.
"Really? Are you sure? It's raining a lot you, might get sick," Hyunjin protested.
"Yep, I'm sure. plus, I like the rain almost as much as I like you," I winked at him and gave him my signature finger guns.
He chuckled at me, and something about the way he smiled and how it turned up his eyes in a squint was really satisfying to me. "You're weird, but thank you for helping."
"It's no problemo! Besides, don't you think it's destiny that we met? We even live in the same neighborhood now!" I joked.
"Yeah, totally. I guess I have to thank fate for allowing me to be bestowed with your grace and elegance," he joked back.
Right as I was about to comment on the fact that he said I was 'graceful and elegant' I slipped on a puddle that I hadn't noticed before. "Ah-!" I gasped, anticipating the familiar and painful feeling of falling on my ass. But, alas, I was saved!
"See? Destiny," I cracked a smile as he was holding onto my wrist to keep me from falling. Hyunjin laughed, helping me to straighten myself up. Even after he let go of my hand, I could still feel the warmth on my palm.
"I take back what I said, I should resent fate for cursing me with your clumsiness."
I simply rolled my eyes and we continued on our search for Kkami. After a couple minutes, the rain had finally stopped. I helped guide Hyunjin to the places I thought his little black and white dog might be around the neighborhood. Then, I suddenly spotted a small dog just chilling on the sidewalk ahead of us.
"Oh my gosh, is that Kkami?" I pointed out the little pup, excited slapping Hyunjin on the chest.
"Yes! That's him!" He cheered and the two of us starting sprinting to get him. Just as we were getting closer, Kkami suddenly took off running the other way.
"Shit, what's he doing?!" I said.
"That little brat- come here Kkami!" Hyunjin shouted. We both were sprinting as fast as we could at this point, and that little rodent still managed to be way ahead of us.
Hyunjin's long legs let him pull ahead of me. I stopped abruptly to catch my breath. "Go on without me! Finish the mission!" I gasped dramatically as if I was reenacting a movie scene. Hyunjin nodded and continued chasing his dog down. As I sat on the sidewalk and watched him, Kkami unexpectedly stopped and made a U-turn around Hyunjin. Now, the dog was running full speed to me with Hyunjin on his tail. "Chase him towards me!" I called out.
As Kkami ran closer, I prepared myself to catch him and- "Yes! Got em!" I announced. Kkami immediately relaxed in my arms and when Hyunjin finally caught up, he was practically bouncing with joy.
"Kkami!" Hyunjin hugged his dog, full of relief.
As we walked back to his house, Hyunjin couldn't stopped hugging and talking to Kkami in a baby voice. He was ecstatic to have his dog back, and I was happy for him too. I thought the whole scene to be kind of cute, and Kkami's blonde eyebrows made him look really derpy too. When we arrived at Hyunjin's house, he set Kkami inside and turned back to me. "Thank you so much for helping me find Kkami, I owe you," he said.
"It was no big deal," I grinned. "and I know where you live now, so don't think I'll let you get away if I need something from you."
"Yah, anyway, see you around, Aeri."
"Farewell, my dear Hyunjin. I wish the best to you and your blessed doggo," I bowed dramatically and Hyunjin bowed as well, playing along.
"And the two of us bid you adieu, princess," Hyunjin gave me a peace sign before closing the door, leaving me a smiling mess.

I feel like these two get along too naturally.... is it making the story boring? I think so. Maybe I shall fix this...
