she starts out,
and it feels odd.
being on her own
once again.
but then she walks
onto the floor and she
feels a flood of excitement
of independence.
she isn't tied down anymore.
she feels the smile
and then the music starts
to play.
she forgets about him
for the next hours.
then for a moment,
she closes her eyes
and remembers
how much she needs him.
then she opens them rolls her eyes
and remembers how to use
the past tense.
she needed him,
but now
she is her own woman.
he is a past tense,
a mistake that has since been forgotten,
and what she
thought was her end,
is just her
beginning.
