A/N: fair warning, this is a long chapter. But this is a very important part of my story so try and bear with me, but I like to think I kept it interesting enough for you all.

Date: April 26th 2019

The dim light from the closed shades finds a gap and burns like a laser beam into Natasha Romanoff's green eyes. She moans and rolls to her left, pleased to feel Steve Rogers' arms wrapped around her bare torso. Natasha smiles to herself as she feels his lips on the crook of her neck. "Morning Nat." He whispers, his baby blue eyes glitter down at her.

Natasha flips onto her back and doesn't hide the joyous smile on her face, Steve can't help but smile back at her. He had no idea how or when she'd fallen for him but he thanked god she had because since the moment he first met her after he'd gotten out of the ice, she had captivated him. Her dark and mysterious character intrigued him, she was tough and ruthless, for some reason he'd always been attracted to women with those qualities.

"Morning Rogers," Natasha leaned up to kiss his lips, tainted with morning breath, but hers was just as bad. Steve smiled against her lips and tucked a loose lock of her dyed blonde hair from her face.

Steve's eyes glow at Natasha's, "what are you staring at?" She tilts her head to the side, to Steve it's adorable. He secretly enjoys the little moments of leftover curiosity she unknowingly had inside her.

"You. Always you Nat." Steve pecks her lips then stands up and makes his way to the bathroom. Just before he closes the door he gives her a smirk, "I still like your red hair better Nat, but you're still beautiful no matter what."

Natasha blushes like a schoolgirl and hates that she does, "shut up Rogers. Now go freshen up, we've got a big day ahead of us."

"You've got that right, Scott, Bruce, Clint, Tony, Thor, Wong, Okoye, Rhodey, Wanda, and all the other lost Avengers are counting on us. It's time to bring them back, along with the other half of the world's population." Steve put on a brave face as he closed the door. The sound of the shower running penetrated the silence and Natasha pulled on a t-shirt and sweats as she walked across the hall, and hopped into her own shower.

The spy and the soldier had kept their feelings and affairs secretive and quiet around the other Avengers, the last thing the team needed was potential drama and distractions.

Natasha arrived at the round breakfast table, taking her seat next to Clint and Wanda, who was still unusually quiet. Natasha didn't need Wanda's mind reading powers to know that she was still distraught over Vision's death. Wanda had been really spacey lately, of course she'd been dialed in during battle strategies and additional training and planning, but when it came to group gatherings outside of training, Wanda was silent.

Everyone sat at attention when Steve walked in the room, Clint nearly dropped his croissant roll as Steve stood in front of everyone in his suit. Natasha masked her sneaky smirk, she loved to tease him, it was one of the small pleasures she was blessed with everyday. But despite her teasing efforts, she respected him in ways she'd never done with anyone else. The bond between the two of them grew stronger with each day. The friendship and chemistry between them was unlike anything either of them had ever witnessed. Loyalty, mutual respect, and trust were the foundations of their bond and it was stronger than anything they could fight for.

Steve's eyes lingered on Natasha for a split second longer than they did with everyone else, "good morning everyone." Steve said, somewhere between enthusiastic and distressed.
