Mimi leaned against the stone walls that made up the Hallow High corridor. Her school life had come to an end forcing her to face the big bad world. It was iconic how for 7 years she had longed to leave but when the moment came her feet wouldn’t move. It wasn’t easy to leave the place she had spent so much time. She had met her friends here; her first kiss had been only a few steps down from where she stood, the time she tripped over her laces and fell into the staff meeting. Her first detention.

“Mimi move your arse, I want to get home.” Axel shouted from the door at the other end. A few people looked over at the noise then shook their heads when they realised it was him. Her cousin was famously known for being loud. And lacking tact.

Axel was only a year younger than her, at seventeen, yet prided himself in being able to boss her around. His light blonde hair was shorter than before, now looking much neater. Mimi knew he hated it, but no one could argue back against his mother. Axel had the bluest eyes she’d ever seen, they would light up whenever he’d smile causing dimples to appear. Axel was set to be the next Alpha of the RiverSide Moon Pack once her Uncle Aiden renounced his title. Everyone that Axel was not up to par yet. But he would be that she was sure of. He was the son of Aiden and Alexandria Blakemore. Axel had the potential, he just needed the motivation.

“Idiot, can’t you see I was having a sentimental moment.” She shouted back as she stormed towards the door.

“With the wall? I didn’t you were so close.” He teased. She felt like throwing something at him. Maybe a book when they get home. She’d have no more need to textbooks, might as well use them as ammo against him. She brushed past him, or tried to.

She made her way to the car when she saw Persephone already sitting in the passenger seat. The fifteen year old was sitting carefully; hands folded on her lap. “Sometime I wonder why I give you key.” Mimi quipped as Axel tried to shimmy into the back seat through the window. “Use the door you dollop, someone spent time inventing it.” As soon as he sat down, Mimi took to speeding down the road.

Persephone was known to be the most morally sound of her cousins. If something bad was to happen, Persephone would be the first to either distance herself or help in it destruction. That is after she gave a good lecturing. She had the signature blonde hair of the Blakemore family, it was much lighter than Axel’s and glistened when it caught the sun. She had the sweetest smile, making her look innocent and fragile. Boys would fall over backwards to see the smile, but Persephone was oblivious. Right now though, she was human which suited her fine. But come her sixteenth birthday and she will become the first of her kind, the first Shifter-Fey hybrid.

“Don’t aggravate him Mimi. It’s hardly his fault he was born without enough of a brain.” Persephone said in such a simple manner it took Mimi a few seconds to realise she was making a joke. Axel ruffled the top of the younger girl’s hair from above her seat.

“Stop lying Phony.” Axel laughed as her lounged on the back seat.

Persephone stayed silent after that. Axel had tried to apologise for his big mouth but Persephone would not hear it. As her sixteenth birthday drew closer she was becoming a lot more sensitive. Only last week Aimee had laughed watching Tinkerbell and she had locked herself in her room for an hour.

“I didn’t mean it, you know that right.” Axel said through the pack link to Mimi. Mimi never liked the use of the mind link. It was too raw, too many emotions. You could feel every emotion the person was experiencing. Only strong wolves could treat it as a form of detached communication. She hadn’t learnt to do this and neither had Axel. It was a pity that Persephone wasn’t a part of the pack or she would have known how much hurt Axel voice was carrying, how much love he had for his cousin. It would take him for Axel to learn to shield his emotions, but he’d have to. The future Alpha couldn’t have his emotions spluttered out every time he gave an order.
