Mimi

Mimi thought she was being quite grown up about everything; she was taking everything in her stride and dealing with it in a civilized manner. The same couldn’t be said for the real adults.

Brett had called every one of his contacts, which as Pioneer ambassador, Ex Prince, Ex Beta and a great guy, was quite a lot. Hope had helped but between them they still couldn’t find a way to beat the contract. Hope said to contact some Finn guy but Brett shot that idea down. Her aunt didn’t seem put out thought, in fact she was relived they didn’t have to. By the end of the next day, Brett had reached the end of his tether and only went home when Hope threatened to make him sleep on the sofa for a month. Mimi laughed at her Uncle’s face. It was as if a puppy had lost its chew toy.

Her Uncle Aiden was taking it in a much calmer way. He wasn’t dealing with it at all. He’d left in the early hours of the day to the pack house and since hadn’t come back. Alex was driving between the two homes like a headless chicken but refused to tell anyone what was happened. Mimi assumed her Uncle had chosen to ignore the problem altogether.

She could have found out the truth, but had vowed she would never use her powers on her family. The power classed her as abnormal; as a blimp in the evolution of wolves. She should be able to do what she did, yet she could. The day after her sixteenth birthday she had been bed ridden for weeks because she couldn’t control it.

It was late afternoon now; the sun was beginning to set as the clouds brought out the moonlight. Mimi had been packing for hours now. She didn’t know what to take, every time she opened a new cupboard she had to decide whether to take the clothing item or leave it behind. If she chooses to take it would she have to something out of the suitcase? She had no idea what the weather was like there? Was it sunny like in Hallow Falls or was it rainy? Was it a countryside where she’d have to wear boots or was there a lack of mud? How long would she even be there for before she could return home? Did they have parties there? If so were they fancy or dreary?

These were all thing what were floating around her head. When she told them to Aimee, she girl only smiled and tipped the suitcase out onto the bed then through the suitcase under the bed. “Living with Persephone teaches you a few things.” The younger girl started to sort all the clothes by colour on the bed which then moved onto the floor. Her single bed could only hold so much. It was an hour after they started that Persephone walked in holding a book and a single sheet of paper. She put the paper on the bed and walked out again without saying a word.

Aimee grabbed the took the paper, read it then held it out to Mimi. It was a weather report of the next week for her time with the bloody creeps as Axel had dubbed them. Below the print out Persephone had written a note in her flawless script.

You are coming back home next week for my birthday hence only packing for a week. The further packing can be done when you return.

Mimi sighed as she remembered her cousin’s birthday next week. She would be coming like a guest not a member of the hosting family.

“What time is your dad getting here?” Aimee asked as she stuffed some clothes into the suitcase.

“He’s not my dad! Can’t everyone understand that? Your fourteen, act your age and have some tact.” Mimi screamed back, she was getting annoyed with people telling her he was. She didn’t need the constant reminder; she knew exactly who he was.

“No need to get into a fit. Just asking.” Aimee said before walking out to go to get things from the bathroom.

Mimi tried to calm herself in the time it took Aimee to come back. Maybe it was getting to her more than she wanted to let on.
