Nolen's POV

"Aye y'all, here comes that new dude. I heard through the grapevine that he'a gay." Jay announced.

John gave a look of frustration. "More of em? I don't have a problem with them but they always end up wanting me."

I sucked my teeth. "Nigga don't nobody want yo ass."

Jay spoke again. "There he go."

I followed everyone's eyes to see a light skinned boy with long hair walking down the hall. His head was held high and his hazel eyes sparkled. His confidence seemed to be on a hundred. Something about him seemed familiar.

As he passed us, he mugged the hell outta John, causing everyone to laugh.

"Oh, but he wants you?" I asked John.

The boy turned back to look at me and our eyes met. I swallowed hard and closed my locker. "Come on y'all, time for practice."

Football is honestly the love of my life but this season has been kicking my ass. Coach has been on our asses about everything little thing. I wiped my sweaty forehead and sat on the bench.

"Get your ass up, Nolen! No breaks! Back on the field. I'm not gonna let you ruin the championship for us!" Coach hollered at me.

Sighing, I rolled my eyes, got up, and jogged back towards the team.

-------------------

"Boys!"

We all turned our heads to face the coach.

"I have to run off and handle something so I'm leaving my son, Terry, in charge. He'll be here in a few minutes so just continue practicing."

We nodded and finished running plays.

He crept up so slickly that I didn't notice him until he spoke.

"Listen up!"

We turned to the source of the high pitched boy's voice. It was the new boy from earlier. I bit my lip.

"I'm sure my father has already told you what's up. And he asked me to tell you guys that practice will be extended another hour." Terry announced.

Groans rang out from the field. He shrugged and strutted to a bench, sitting down, and whipping out his phone.

The boys went back to practicing while I stood staring at Terry for a few more moments. He was so damn pretty. I bit my lip to fight the urge to go over and introduce myself. I didn't have to fight much longer because soon, I heard my girlfriend's annoying ass voice from across the field.

Alicia skipped over to me in her cheer-leading outfit, wearing a huge goofy grin on her face.

"Hey baby" she greeted, before jumping on me.

I wrapped my arms around her waist so she wouldn't fall. Terry looked up from his cellphone with a raised brow.

"Tell her she needs to go."

Alicia looked at him with a scowl. "And who are you supposed to be?"

"It don't matter, leave."

I whispered into her ear explaining that he was the Coach's son and she nodded, lowering herself off of me. "I'll see you later, then."

She rolled her eyes at Terry once more before leaving.

He looked at me and shook his head. "You could do way better, just saying."

I wanted to ask him, "And who would be better?" But his attention went right back to that damn phone.
